My joy is more resilient than the hate they carry. #stickynotetoself . . In #stlouis and across the nation, people like myself continue to face intensified division, hatred, and judgement as we rise up against such ills. Though I have engaged and committed my life to such work early on in my youth, I had not received as much worry from people in my life until I decided to use and dedicate my public platforms to calling out the civil rights and human rights abuses unapologetically. Family have feared that I might be targeted with violence or life threats, while mentors have advised I be considerate that people of many belief systems have followed and supported my work over the years. I do not worry about either of these because I know where my focus and commitment are rooted. My approach to life is not from a place of fear or of worry; it of joy and the firm belief that we can shift systems, cultures, and policies to benefit people whose ancestors--like my own--had been targeted for generations because of who we are, what our skin looks like, how we worship, and who we love. I believe we can stop the outputs and outcomes of hate and design a world of equity and promise for those who have never had the privilege to experience such. I don't worry about harm coming my way. I am covered, protected, and supported by a multitude of villages, and no hateful person can do anything to stop that. My joy and my resilience can withstand whatever comes my way. . . . #selfmotivation #stlverdict #stlprotest #jasonstockleyverdict #stockleyverdict #policebrutality #nofear #loveconquershate (at St. Louis)
