Stick Removal
It's my belief that sticks can be replaced in most recipes by planks or similar items without much of a negative effect on game play. Consolidating sticks into planks and similar items also serves to remove a common piece of clutter from drops and storage, albeit it's positive effect is somewhat small.
Recipes
Tools - Sticks are replaced with planks in all tool recipes. In wooden tools, where planks were originally used is replaced with logs.
Ladders - The sticks one the sides are replaced with planks and the stick in the very center of the grid is replaced with a wooden slab. Crafts 7.
Signs - Planks in the original recipe are replaced with slabs and the stick in the original recipe is replaced with a plank. Crafts 7.

Fences - Crafts 6.

Chest Loot - Removed from chest loot entirely.
Dead Bushes and Leaves - Has a chance to drop a plank instead of a stick.
Fishing - Removed from the junk loot pool entirely.
Witches and Falling Boats - Removed from their drop pool entirely.
