Bob Probertβs Lone NHL Hat Trick Comes on New Yearβs Eve, 1987
Bob Probert was never known for staying out of the penalty box, but on December 31, 1987, he let his scoring do all the damage. Probert recorded the only hat trick of his NHL career as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the St. Louis Blues 7-2 at Joe Louis Arena. Skating alongside Steve Yzerman, Probert scored three goals on three shots and somehow avoided the penalty box in a game that featured 89 total penalty minutes.
