Aerosmith's 2nd album was released on 15 March 1974.
According to Joe Perry, the label was "ready to dump us" after their first album failed to sell and wanted Bob Ezrin to produce. Ezrin instead introduced the band to Jack Douglas (who had been a recording engineer for Ezrin on Alice Cooper's albums, and had worked with the Who, John Lennon, the New York Dolls, and others).
Douglas brought in a number of guest musicians into the recording sessions, including Alice Cooper guitarist Dick Wagner, who played lead guitar on "Train Kept a Rollin" and "Same Old Song and Dance" and contributed to "a couple of other songs" on the album. Fellow Alice Cooper bandmate Steve Hunter also provides lead guitar (and solo) on the first half of "Train Kept a Rollin."
Released to mixed reviews and no charting singles, Get Your Wings sold a little better than its predecessor, but would ultimately go on to sell more than 3 million copies and Jack Douglas would go on to produce the band's next 3 albums.
