SSHSA is a proud co-sponsor of the 11th Maritime Heritage Conference, this year being held in New Orleans, LA February 14 - 17, 2018.
So we thought we’d share this colorful brochure produced by Four Winds Travel for riverboat tours on the SS MISSISSIPPI QUEEN. She was a sternwheel steamship completed in 1975. She was the second largest paddle driven river vessel ever built, second to her sister ship AMERICAN QUEEN. Her wheel was 22 feet in diameter, and the ship featured a massive 44 whistle calliope. She was built by the Delta Queen Steamship Company, but was later owned and operated by Majestic America Line. She was scrapped in 2008.
Other river vessels continue to endure, such as the DELTA QUEEN, and the NATCHEZ based in New Orleans.
