#sterling ref

Sterling was supposed to be a background character in my DnD character's backstory but then I got attached to him and now I think about him constantly. He's the eldest child of the wealthy Blackwell family, with one younger sister named Nora (my DnD character's childhood best friend).

His mom died at sea when he was eight. His dad became simultaneously neglectful and wildly controlling after her death, not allowing Sterling or Nora to leave the house without accompaniment or permission. Sterling was Not A Fan Of This and frequently acted out (petty theft, graffiti, arson, general rude boy delinquent behavior) as a means of seeking attention and rebelling against his father.

Sterling kind of raised Nora bc his dad was always doing Important Business Things and not being physically present in the lives of his children. Nora is highly intelligent, if shy, and Sterling is FIERCELY proud of her. He worries about Nora growing up in such a highly restrictive environment because it fucked him up and he doesn't want it to traumatize her any more than it already has. Nora is Sterling's #1 priority forever and always. He ran away from home with the goal of finding a stable living situation so he could take her away from their father.

Sterling is awkward and not particularly socially adept. He tends to fumble his words and avoid eye contact when conversing with others unless he's being confrontational (and by being confrontational I mean being either a Rude Idiot Doing Petty Crime or Just An Asshole). Sterling is incredibly loyal and protective of those he cares about, and he tends to try to take care of everyone else's problems for them.

Sterling is somewhat pale. He has straight black hair that falls to his mid-back, which he normally keeps in a ponytail. He dresses punk or punk-ish, and he has several facial and ear piercings. He isn't particularly tall (5'8) and he has bad posture, which doesn't help.

Overall he's kind of an idiot but I love him dearly. This is the only finished drawing of him I have on my phone and it's two years old so it's kind of shit but here u go anyway lol
