A quick, one take of the Barbershop Quartet from the New Tradition Chorus. They are Tenor: Steve Davis, Lead: Oliver Merrill, Bass: Jay Giallombardo, and Baritone: John Davis. Here they are recorded in a modified ORTF. 25cm apart and angled 10º less, (making it 100º angled) using 2 MXL V67N microphones being run into a H4N Zoom Portable Recorder. The quartet stood about 3-3.5ft away from the middle of the spacebar. Since it is true ORTF, you can hear where each singer is standing. Barbershop quartets usually stand Tenor-Lead-Bass-Baritone or the reverse.
Background of the singers: These are all champion barbershop singers in one fashion or another, Steve Davis a multi Illinois Barbershop District Champion with many quartets over the years, Oliver Merrill is the lead of the 2005 Collegiate Barbershop Quartet, Men In Black. In the open contest, Men In Black got as high as 7th place internationally. Jay Giallombardo is an International Quartet Gold Medalist for the 1979 quartet, Grandma's Boys where he sang Baritone. Jay is also one of the leading arrangers for the barbershop style and arranged many of Grandma's Boys' charts. John Davis sang lead in the Illinois District Champion Quartet, Chronicle (with Steve Davis) and has sung with Internationally competing quartet, Rush Street.

Metropolitan series - 846 - sage hens Another authentic old stereogram from the antique store! To view in 3D, if you have binocular vision: stare at the image, letting your vision go double, until the two images start to overlap and then snap into place with each other; you should see three copies of the image, with the center one in 3-D. It’s the same basic principle as Magic Eye but the results are different. It takes some practice if you aren’t used to it. Under the cut is advice if you’re having trouble: 1. Make the image smaller. This only works with images below a certain size relative to your eyes; either zoom out, or move farther away from the screen. The smaller the image appears to you, the easier to make it go 3D. Try both resizing and moving - they have slightly different effects. 2. If you’re wearing glasses, take them off. (If you aren’t wearing your glasses, put them on.) 3. Make sure your eyeline is parallel to the horizontal plane of the screen. 4. Focus on a distinct part of the scene (like a black object) and try to move them toward each other. 5. Thinking too hard is bad; if you still can’t make them line up, come back later when you’re more tired/drunk/otherwise slightly mentally impaired/already getting double vision, and try again.
