Hunter’s Moon Mate
Again, this is for Sterek Week, but I’m kind of late in posting this, so shhhh just pretend it’s still the right day. Also this title is awful and I’m sorry. It’s 1:30am and I am tired. That’s my excuse. Enjoy.
It’s dark save for the light of the full moon, and there’s a sharp chill in the air that makes it a little hard to breathe the faster Stiles runs. He doesn’t stop though, even though there’s a burning in his chest and legs. The wolf howl that echoes in the trees behind him only serves as motivation for him to keep running, ignoring the soreness of his calves, the stings of branches and leaves that hit and scratch him as he passes by.
He asked for this; heck, he wanted to do this, and there was no way he was giving up now.
Sterek Omegaverse AU: Hunter’s Moon
Every full moon the pack gets together and plays an elaborate game of tag- it's Stiles' favourite time of the month. The rules are simple: The omegas run, and the alphas catch them. For the rest of the evening that alpha-omega pair spends quality time together out in the woods getting to know each other, it's a way for the pack to bond and spend time with pack mates that they might not know very well.
The omegas get a five minute head start, and they always use their head start the same way. Stiles laughs with the other omegas as they pause just outside of hearing distance of the Hale house, and they begin to strip off most of their own clothing and they quickly dress in each other's discarded clothes to throw off their alphas scents. Stiles leaves his jeans on- they're too tight and would slow him down too much, but he changes everything else. When his delicate hearing catches the first crack of a branch in the distance he's off running, and only then does he inhale deeply to see whose scents he's wearing.
Isaac's converse shoes, one of Danny's socks, Kira's blue t-shirt, and Mason's grey hoodie. Stiles grins to himself and takes a sharp left, he runs to the stream on the northern side of the Hale property and begins to run upstream. His favourite spot is the meadow at the Northwest corner of their territory- nobody had ever caught him there, and he usually likes to spend half an hour just laying amongst the flowers and grass before he decides that most of the other's are probably caught. Only then will he make his way back down, but this week is different.
This week Stiles has to push himself harder and go faster because there is definitely the loud footsteps of a reckless alpha running after him. Stiles growls to himself and steps out of the stream to swerve left, downwind, and then he runs a big loop before getting himself back on his original path. He's curious about who is chasing him, but he has a reputation to uphold- and that reputation is that he is almost always the last omega to be caught.
He inhales deeply, and keeps a careful eye out, but there is no sign of whichever alpha had been pursuing him, and Stiles grins to himself as he reaches the meadow- another full moon well raced. The omega runs as fast as he can to the middle of the field before throwing himself in the air and landing in a swift shoulder roll as he collapses into the field. He only has half a moment to relax into the familiar ground before he hears a deep chuckle- somehow the alpha followed him. Stiles can feel his muscles tense, but before he has a chance to run there is an alpha pouncing on him. They roll in a flurry of glowing eyes, converse shoes, and a leather jacket. Finally Stiles is straddling an exceptionally smug Derek Hale, who obviously let him with the brief scuffle and he can't help but be impressed. Derek always came off as a quiet kind of aggressive. The alpha usually hung back until the others in the pack had had their turn at something before he made any efforts towards the activity at all, and so Stiles had never been able to properly judge the alpha's abilities.
Apparently Derek Hale was secretly more capable than any of the other alphas though, and although Stiles wants his winning streak to continue, he can't help but grin down at the man. It's about time for me to find an alpha who could keep up with me anyways, Stiles reminds himself. They play fight in the meadow for awhile, and eventually the duo begins to walk back down towards the house. Derek is a good listener, and Stiles is thrilled to learn that the alpha spends a lot of his time reading classic literature.
They are both too caught up in each other to realize, and once the wind shifts it's too late. There is human, gun powder, and wolf's bane in the wind. Hunters. Stiles can feel his eyes flash as panic rises in his chest, and he looks up to see that Derek's eyes are glowing red too, but his gaze is towards the forest, as he growls, "Run!"
"I won't leave you." Stiles growls right back, and he flexes and extends his fingers as his claws grow from his hands, but Derek snarls at him and says, "Warn the pack, I'll be right behind you."
Stiles doesn't want to run, but he knows that omegas were built for speed, not strength, and he knows that Derek won't try to protect himself until Stiles is safe, and so with a whimper, he obeys. Derek's howl tears through the air, vibrating everything to the core, and Stiles keeps running, but it doesn't matter. There are more hunters than they thought, and it doesn't take long until Kate Argent has the barrel of a gun pressed to his forehead.

Summary: The Hunter's Moon is like Halloween for hunters, it's the day that they kill more than any other, treating their hunts like a sport and killing anything they can get ahold of, Stiles takes it upon himself to help all he can before the Hunter's Moon, including Laura Hale's brother Derek, who went feral after believing her to be dead, Stiles doesn't usually take on feral cases, but for Laura- for Derek- before the moon, he'll give it a chance

written by Phlossie for Sterek Week 2015.
Terror flooded his senses making him trip and tear through the dense trees. His lungs and throat ache with the fridgid air.
He can hear their boots behind him, crunching on leaves, they aren’t trying to be quiet. Make no pretense of stealth: want him to be afraid, to run like a frightened rabbit.
Derek’s hand is rough in his. Pulling him along with a vice like grip, half shifted, even more panicked than he is.
It feels like they’d been running for hours, and the hunters always sound like they’re just meters behind.
There is a sharp crack; a gunshot he thinks, and Derek takes a sharp turn, for a moment icy fear grips Stiles thinking that he’s been hit, but they kept running and Derek doesn’t falter.
Stiles legs give out soon afterwards though, and he falls face first onto the mouldering leaves. Derek heaves him upright by his hold on his hand and Stiles’ shoulder screams under the pressure. The wolf hoists him onto his back and continues running.
He can still hear the hunters behind them, and see the shafts of light their torches split through the trees. They seem to be everywhere.
Stiles wonders where on earth they had gone so horribly wrong, it was supposed to be easy, just a couple of looney hunters, nothing they hadn't dealt with before. Their resources and numbers so insignificant he’d been surprised Isaac hadn't rescued himself already.
That should have been the first warning sign.
Hours later, Derek collapses against a tree, slinging Stiles onto the dirt, doubling over to drag in ragged gulps of air, choking around sobs.
Something crunches in their immediate vicinity and they both startle, Stiles grabs Derek by his wrist and drags him into a small hollow between the tree roots. Clinging to him in abject terror.
“Derek” he whispers, for no particular reason other than to assure himself that the other was there, brain so choked with fear it needs to be doubly sure.
Derek doesn’t say anything, simply curls himself more tightly around Stiles.
Both their bodies shake as the adrenalin wears off, Stiles hardly notices as his shoulder gets progressively wetter with Derek’s tears.
When the glaze finally leaves his eyes and he recovers his wits he asks what is wrong.
“They’re gone” Derek replies. “I still cant feel them- Not even Scott”
“Oh” It’s all he can manage through the adrenalin and fear, his emotions clogged by cracking twigs and crunching boots.

A fic for the @sterekweek2015 and The Hunter’s Moon
Maybe a bit late?
A big thank you to @captaintinymite for the boost and the beta <3
All mistakes are mine.
Under the moon, the forest was bright. The full moon was tomorrow, but still, the light it shed was enough for Stiles not to use his torch. Despite the numerous shadows, Stiles avoided tripping or falling, his rifle in his hand, ready to shoot if danger arose.
Danger didn’t arise.
Which was unfortunate, because he was sure he had seen those yellow eyes in the dark looking back at him, and right after, he had heard the howl into the night. The werewolf that had been killing his people was close, he could feel it, and yet, he was wrong.
He reached the lake without an event, the sound of the water breaking the rustling of leaves under his feet. The sense of a presence made his skin crawl, and he turned instantly to his right. He didn’t know what he expected, but it certainly wasn’t a very naked man – a very naked gorgeous man- walking out of the lake, his skin illuminated under the light of the moon.
Like a fairy, Stiles thought.
For Sterek Week Hunter Moon
It’s Stiles’ first hunt. It’s supposed to be special because it’s the Hunter’s Moon and how many hunter’s actually have their first on on this full moon? Not many. Not that it didn’t take forever for Stiles to get here. It wasn’t like he was planning for it to be this full moon; he was just procrastinating this as long as possible.
Sure, it’s the family business and all that, but Stiles never really felt like he belonged in the family? Sure he’s an Argent by name, but is he by heart? He’s never seen the appeal in capturing werewolves and torturing them for information or for science. They may be half wolf, but they’re still half human, right?
Technically, Stiles isn’t even Argent by blood. His mom married Chris when he was five after his dad died. From the negative way his family talks about the ex-sheriff, his biological dad was a werewolf sympathizer, which is usually a word that is spit out in disgust. It’s also a word that Stiles thinks he might identify with. God, his family is going to hate him.
They sent him out alone as a test to see if he could really do it. The doubt has been palpable in the family, especially since Allison succeeded in her first hunt a year ago. Since then, the pressure has been doubled because if she can do it why can’t Stiles? They’re the same age after all. They grew up together, so they should be equally prepared, right? Right?
Wrong. Stiles is not prepared for this at all. He hasn’t taken his hand off the handle of his gun that’s holstered in his belt since they left him alone in the woods. Mainly to hide the fact that he’s definitely shaking.
He was told that there was a rogue alpha who had just bitten someone and this is that new wolf’s first moon. Great, he or she will be extra volatile. Exactly what Stiles wanted.
“This is private property,” someone growls at him.
