Is it real?
First go at a Sterek fic, hope you like it....
Stiles rolled over, his left hand supporting his head from beneath his pillow, his body and mind fighting feelings of elation and exhaustion. He craved sleep but didnât dare close his eyes for fear that heâd wake up from a wonderful dream alone in his own bed to find that none of it had happened. A momentary feeling of deep crushing sadness settled in his body at the mere thought it of. It hurt almost physically within him and he wasnât sure his heart could survive such pain were it to happen. Efforts to internally laugh off the idea fell somewhat short and try as he might he couldnât convince himself that what heâd lived through over the last few hours was real and actually had happened, that he was laid there with the love of his life.
Laid in the darkness, his face gently illuminated by the soft glow of a streetlight outside, Derek looked a picture of peace, although even asleep his face had a certain brooding quality that Stiles loved. His muscular chest rose and fell slowly with the rhythms of his breathing as Stiles watched, momentarily transfixed at Derekâs state of tranquillity. Just watching him sleep brought a sense of calmness to Stiles soul and an involuntary smile to his lips that he tried to suppress. If Derek woke up and saw him smiling at him like a lovestruck schoolgirl heâd never hear the end of it.
Fatigue tugged at Stiles, his eyes ached for rest, begging to be closed but he fought the feeling with all the strength he could still muster. If this was a dream he never wanted to wake up, nothing in real life could ever possibly give him what he felt right now, he could happily live out his days in this dream, just him and Derek. A desire to know it was real surged through him all of a sudden, he wanted confirmation, needed it. He thought of waking Derek and talking to him but that wouldnât tell him anything. If it was a dream talking to Derek would only drag him deeper in, reaffirming his desire for eternal slumber.
How do you know if your dreaming? Fingers! Just count your fingers. You always have extra fingers in dreams, the sudden realisation that he could have confirmation or contradiction was now a little scary. He felt his heart beat quicken, could feel it pounding against his chest, trying to get out. Do I even want to know? He asked himself the question silently, fighting the urge to lift his hand in front of his face and look. He wouldnât even need to count the fingers, you cant help but notice an extra finger on your hand thatâs not usually there.
Stiles was vaguely aware that what he was feeling was more than just a little bit silly, of course it was real, undoubtedly he was awake. He rolled over took a brave leap of faith and closed his eyes, though he wouldnât allow himself to sleep without knowing. With his eyes still closed he brought his hands together and starting with the little fingers he placed the tips of them together one at a time. A second pair of fingertips found each other in the darkness, they felt normal enough, as though they were where they should be. The next pair had the definite feel of middle fingers gently pressing together. If he had extra fingers surely that would mean his middle fingers wouldnât be middle fingers anymore, theyâd feel different, not quite right, somehow less important. But these had the familiar feel of two strong central fingers, fingers that you would naturally want to show someone you didnât like in an upward thrusting motion. He moved on, another pair joined at the tip. This was it, the moment of truth, if anything other than thumbs came together now Stiles would be devastated. He paused, mulling over the ramifications of what came next. Maybe it was best not to know. What if it was a dream and he woke to find he and Derek werenât in love, or worse that there was no Derek.
With a deep breath he steeled himself, he had to know. Slowly he shifted two more digits closer, pausing just a moment before plunging them together. Thumbs! Two wonderful, glorious thumbs. Never in his life had Stiles ever felt such love for his thumbs. He could kiss them, so he did.
âIâm awake, itâs realâ he mouthed silently in relieved ecstasy rolling over to his side to look at Derek once more.
Derek rolled over next to him and an arm reached out wrapping around Stiles pulling him in tightly. The warmth of the embrace flooded through Stiles like a shot of Whiskey on a cold night and his head became heavy as weariness took a complete hold of him.
âOf course itâs real. Iâm not going anywhere. Go to sleep.â Derekâs sleepy voice was the last thing Stiles heard before slipping in to a deep satisfied slumber.
Sterek Week 2016. Day 5 - Canon Divergence
Sorry, Iâm in a delay - again. XD And still, english is not my first language, so so sorry because of all the mistakes I made.
This one is a small nothing to @demisexualhale as a birthday gift. :) Happy birthday, Isaac! Youâre a treasure to the fandom. :)
Post Season 3. :)
Stiles had nightmares since the Nogitsune. He saw himself in his dreams killing Allison again and again - in as many different ways as his exhausted and tortured mind could came up with. Sometimes he actually could feel how mesmerizing it was holding Lydiaâs life in his hand. And sometimes his dreamy delusion-hazed mind was replaying the scene when he trusted the jetblack katana into Scottâs belly. He still could hear the sound of that disgusting twitch, which was caused by the blade as it twisted in his best friendâs body.
It was crazy, mindblowing, unnetural and âŠbad.
So he did the only thing what he could do the best: ignored the problems until theyâd fly away. Or theyâd kill him. Itâs the same⊠So finally Stiles chose to not sleep.
He collapsed during the third week. It was embarassing because he was in the old Hale-house helping to Derek to pursue an exorcism in a mad wreck-it-ralphys-ghost.
After the success of their teamework, as the adrenalin left his body, he lost his conscious just for waking up on one Derek Haleâs couch and sour-soullen face.
âSince when?â asked the werewolf with a very serious expression.
âMorning, sunshine to you too! If you just once managed to not look like a serial killer who lost his victim, than maybe the Earth would stop, but I could not wish to run marathon away from your eyebrows.â Stiles attacked immediately with his sarcasm just to cover up the real problem.
Derek lifted one of the mentioned organs.
âSince when?â He growled.
âEasy there, big guy! Just save your fangs.â The boy was playing nervously with the zipper of his red hoodie. âSince when, what?â
âSince when do you have nightmares like this hard? Since when youâre not sleeping?â There was a heavy silence. "You were speaking. While you were knocked out.â He add slowly as an answer to Stilesâ shocked expression.
âItâsâŠgoing like this for a while. For weeks. But itâs okay, Derek, I can handle it. I just need some sleep, thatâs all. You donât need to be the knight with a shiny armor in a white horse. Iâm not a damsel in trouble.â
âYou just canât sleep.â
âYepp. See, itâs easy. Iâm not like⊠eaten by a dragon. Or roasted by some evil troll. Or mojod into a frog by a crazy witch. Or somethingâŠâ
Derek was ignoring his sass.
âCut the shit, Stiles! Youâre not sleeping because you think youâll kill your friends, am I right?â
âYes?â This was too honest, but the words just slipped out from his lips.
Derek was staring at Stiles for minutes before he grabbed the boyâs hand and started to guide him on the direction of the door.
âWhyâŠWhaâŠ? What the hell are you doing, Derek?â
âWeâre going.â The werewolf stated this as the most obvious thing in the world. âTo the mountains. You can sleep there, itâs quite.â
Stiles head was spinning, and it was not caused by the sleep deprivation or the fight of the day (because yeah, they reach that point they have shit like this). He was not understand what the man wants from him. Why he is doing this? Why he wants to help? He was confused, angry and huffy, so he stopped to challenege the wolf.
âStop it! We canât leave like this from nothing just because you want to replay the whole Tarzan thing with a hint of The Call of the Wild! I just canât run away without a word, my dad would gone crazy! And seriously, when you just started worrying about me?â Stiles was yelling. âJust because⊠you know, last time I saved your ass, you left me without a thank you in the side of a pool!â
Derek just stood there awkwardly with a broken twinkle in his eyes.
âIt was an asshole move. But letâs forget about it, iâm not the same person for a while.â
âYes, youâre not. Yet, i still donât understand why are you acting so weird? Why do you care?â
âItâs because⊠I justâŠ.â His cheeks turned into red, and he felt Stiles watchful eyes in his face. âThatâs because IâŠâ
He took a step to close the painful gap between them. He was kissing him first gently - light as a feather; than with more passion: as an act of someone who believe this is his final act, and wants to take what he could.
But Stiles was kissing him back. It was full of with teeth and tounge. It was sweet and crazy and intoxicating. Stiles got his answer. It was nothing, and yet everything.
One week later
âOh, god, how we ended like this?â Stiles was leaning back to Derekâs werewolf-heated chest.
âI remember to one spookey ghost. And some yelling. And than you kissing me.â Derek chuckled, and planted a small kiss in Stilesâs right cheek.
âThat was you, who kissed me firts, not-so-Sourwolf!â Stiles protested, and leaned back to the manâs chest.
He sinks into the perfect feeling of being with his wolf. He enjoyed the view - beautiful mountains around them. He felt as Derek was smiling into his neck - happy and calm, and peacful. He could sense how their heart are beating the same rythm.
It was nothing and everything.
Sterek Week 2016 - Day Five (October 28th) âȘ Â Canon Divergence
The first thing Derek notices is Cora. The faint traces of her scent, her presence, a singing happiness radiating out of her like nothing he's ever known. He feels himself fumbling for his cell phone, his body reacting much quicker than his mind, his brain still stuck on the fact that she apparently returned to Beacon Hills long before he did. He's careful to not grip the phone too tight, the mix of glass, metal, and plastic weak between his fingers; he's been through enough phones like this, he doesn't need another casualty.
The ringing in his ear surprises him. He'd tried calling her, almost incessantly, when he first left Beacon Hills, but the number had long since been disconnected. He'd gone to South America looking for her but he couldn't find a single trace, not even the slightest whiff of her. He'd heard whispers of her whereabouts, packs all over giving him directions in all different ways but no matter which lead he'd followed, he never succeeded in finding her. Until now apparently.
"Hello?" Cora's voice, warm and blunt, shocks Derek out of his musings but for moments his mouth moves silently, not quite sure of where to begin.
"Derek?" It's whispered and confused, like she can't quite believe it herself but familiarity and love and pack wash over him and Derek can't quite suppress a smile.
"Cora."
"Hey big brother." There's a smile in her voice and he feels another surge of happiness thrum out of her, even miles away, even though he still can't pinpoint her exact location.
"You're in Beacon Hills." There's no point phrasing it as a question.
"So are you." Another thrill of giddiness washes over him, and again he knows it's not his own, but this time it's twinged with concern and trepidation. Derek doesn't want to think about what that might mean.
âCan I see you? How long have you been back?â
Silent hesitation hits him for a few moments before a resigned sigh floats through his ears and a feeling of dread drops low in Derekâs gut.
âI'm at the loft. I'll see you in 10.â With that she hangs up and Derek's left to stare blankly at the phone.
He contemplates not going, Cora's tone has put him off slightly, but the mere thought of seeing her again, of getting to hold her tight and drink in her unique blend of soap, wood and moss, has his feet moving and his fingers fumbling for the keys of the Camaro.
When he arrives at the loft there's more presence and noise than he had expected. He'd imagined Cora here on her own, mixing her scent with Derek's lingering impression, looking for some sort of home - still searching after everything she's been through. And it seems like she's found it. There's a flurry of activity, scents and sounds mixing together to make identifying anything specific almost impossible, but it feels like comfort and home and pack and suddenly he can't bear to be away from it any longer.
His knock against the sliding wood sounds too loud to his own ears and it feels like an eternity before Cora's face is smiling back at him, her arms twisting around his neck as he pulls her close. They rub against each other, scenting and calming, familiarising themselves with each other once again.
âI've missed you.â It's so quiet Derek has no doubt no one else but him hears it, cocooning the siblings in their own private bubble until they're ready to pull away. Derek can't bring himself to do it just yet.
âI missed you too. I looked for you.â Derek doesn't care who else hears, he spent his last few years away from Beacon Hills learning how to live with himself, how to admit to other people how he feels, and he's not scared of it anymore. Being scared of his feelings is what drove him away in the first place and now that he's back he finally feels fully at ease.
âI didn't know.â Cora pulls back slightly to look at him, no trace of a lie found in her heartbeat and Derek wonders just how long they spent missing each other, neither knowing the other was waiting to be found. âIt's good to have you home now though.â
Home. It brings Derek back to the fact that there are others inside, a pack waiting for him; whether to welcome or shun he's not quite sure.
As if she were reading his thoughts, Cora steps back, finally out of his embrace, and gestures vaguely behind her, âCome on in.â
Warmth envelops him, heartbeats and scents bombarding, almost overpowering, and Derek only has a moment to take it all in, to notice the bodies milling around, before he once again has a face full of hair and a body wrapped around his own.
âIsaac.â Derek says softly, his voice shaking slightly on a laugh.
âYou're home.â If his voice shakes slightly as well, but his tone twinged with unshed tears, well, Derek's not one to mention it aloud.
âIt's good to be home.â His voice is steady and clear, he has no intention of hiding this from them all, that he's here to stay if they'll let him. Derek's eyes find Scott's over Isaac's shoulder, the younger wolf still scenting Derek, seeming quite content to not let go for a while yet. Red flashes briefly back at him but it's accompanied by Scott's usual megawatt smile so Derek takes it as the simple reminder as itâs meant: I'm still the alpha here but welcome home.
âWhat's going on?â
The serenity and easy atmosphere suddenly thickens and he sees the rest of the group tense, Isaac finally stepping away from him and refusing to make eye contact with anyone. Derek would know the voice anywhere and yet he's still surprised when Stiles steps out into the room, stilling completely the moment he locks eyes with Derek.Â
Derek wants to go to him, he wants to hold him like he hasn't been able to in years; the urge is so great his wolf almost howls when he forces himself to stay where he is. For one, he's almost positive the contact wouldn't be welcome after so long apart. Secondly, Stiles is holding a child in his arms, a child clinging to Stiles' neck, scenting him as she stares at Derek so intently it's almost off-putting, a child who Derek has no explanation for.
The whole room is still, hardly a puff of breath audible as everyone just waits. Only thudding heartbeats fill the silence; Stiles' obscure, racing rhythm easy to identify even after all this time. It throws Derek that the little girl's is almost identical.
"Wolfy!" A cheeky screech breaks the silence, the girl pointing openly at Derek, her eyes flashing a brief bright yellow.

Sterek Week Day Five: Canon Divergent
To fix canon, I went all the way back to the very first episode of Teen Wolf and kept Laura alive. I can just imagine her rooting for (and meddling in) Derek and Stilesâ relationship.
----------
Day 5 on the Sterek Week. I was busy today so I made something quick. I posted 1 minute before the day is over acording my pc Canon divergent from any of the 5 seasons: Alive Claudia Stilinski + Human Derek.
Read it on AO3 here
âDerek wolf was gone and he doesnt know how to be human. Stiles try to help. Claudia wants the best for her kids.â
Her life changed the day she found out about the supernatural world. The doctors said frontotemporal dementia. She and her husband were overwhelmed. They had a son, too young to lose his mother. And while John did wherever he could to watch over Stiles, it wasnât enough. She knew she need a miracle. Some days Claudia didnât recognize her house. The day he hit Stiles was the day she made a decision.
Everybody in Beacon Hills knew something was going on. But for some reason, they ignore the fact. The weird wolvesâ noises once a month. The âmountain lionâ that occasionally killed an innocent. The secrecy around the Hale family and their home schooled kids until theyâre twelve. All the costumers Dr. Deaton had, going in and out without an animal to cure.
So, yeah. Claudia knew something was going on. Â It took a lot of effort and talk but she convinced Talia Hale. Two weeks and an appointment with Deaton later and Claudia was totally cured. John and the doctors couldnât believe it. She didnât tell anyone what happened. Claudia made a promise to keep the secret about magic, werewolves and emissaries. She learnt a lot from Deaton. He gave her books. Talia said that now that she was part of their world, she needed to know all about it.
Years passed and the Hales died. Claudia cried in silence at night, suspecting what really happened with them. His baby grown up and somehow, he was part of a supernatural gang himself. Derek Hale was part of them. She remembered him. Funny, Claudia thought. More than once she tried to tell Stiles that she knew, that he could count on her and not keep all by himself. But when Claudia bumped with Derek at the grocery store, or saw him on the street, she thought of her promise.
The day when a Darach kidnaped John was the second day she made a decision involving the supernatural. The pack solved everything again, she didnât doubt they couldnât. Â after all was sorted out and everybody was at home, she talked with her family. Â Stiles cried in her arms all the night, maybe in relief that he didnât need to lie his parents anymore.
With the Stilinskis in the know, pack meetings and pack bonding was a thing on weekends at the house. When the Nogitsune happened and the Argent girl died, Claudia tried to be there for the kids, and for his husband. John was still debating on know everything or kept a distance.
When they rescued Derek from Mexico, she insisted on having him with them until he changed back. In her heart, Derek was like his son. Even John was thinking on him like a second son. Claudia knew Stiles wasnât totally comfortable with the situation, not for not liking Derek, they were friends. But she noticed how his son looked at Derek. And how they acted around each other. His husband could be blind and his son being in denial, but then again she knew something unspoken was there.
And after all, when things got under control again, Derek started to lose his werewolf powers. Slowly, he became a human. Claudia adopted him. One day he was a guest and one day she was having a conversation with her family.
âI want Derek here, living permanently. Or at least until he is adapted to being humanâ
John agreed with Claudia âI think is a great ideaâ
Derek looked not too much sure of what to say. âI donât want to cause problems here Ms. Stilinskiâ
âSee? He doesnât want toâ John looked at him wondering what was wrong with his son.
âDer, Itâs Claudia and you know it. You all know that I am alive and well because of Talia. And this is my chance to do something important to her, wherever she is.â
They were in silence for a moment, no one knew what to say after that. Stiles broke the silence, unable of being quiet too long. Â
âMom, itâs your decision, yours and dad, and I respect that. Derek, welcome to the family officiallyâ Claudia smiled and John coughed. Â âWhat?...Oh! NO! No that way!â
xxXxxXxxXxx
They arranged everything and Derek would be moving with them the next day. Meanwhile, Claudia had a conversation with Stiles in his room, away from John.
âHoney, I know you donât want him hereâ
âMom! You scared me. And I donât know what are you talking aboutâ
She gave him a significant look. âReally, Stiles?â
âIâm still no idea what you are sayingâ
Claudia walked inside the room and close the door. Â She sat on Stilesâ bed and wait for him to speak. She knew heâd talk eventually.
âOkay. Does dad know? Or Derek?â
âYour dad is not as oblivious as you. And Derek is so confused with being human that I donât know. But let me tell you kid, the pack can smell it on you every time you look at him. Iâm sure.â She smiled at Stilesâ embarrassment. âCome hereâ
Claudia repositioned on the bed and waited for Stiles. They were hugging like when Stiles was five and afraid of the storm or ten and crying because John was shoot in the leg. âI donât know what Iâm going to do with him all the time here. What if he notices something and donât want to be my friend anymore and everything change?â
âYou two are friends like you and Scott, I can tell you that much. And the pack is trying to move on, going to college and make a better life for themselves. There will be changes. Make sure you make the most of itâ Â
âThanks mom. I donât know what Iâd do without youâ
xxXxxXxxXxx
Like Claudia said, the pack had their own things to do. Stiles spent almost all his free time at the house with Derek.
Derek. That was other problem. She wasnât his mom but she had the mom instinct. She saw at pack meetings or when Derek was around the house how he stared too long at Stiles when he thought nobody was watching. She had a lot of work to do if she wanted those two admit their feelings.
The other thing she needed to do was made Derekâs life easier. He was ashamed of being human, he didnât know what to do without the wolf. Claudia saw it so many times in the past weeks of Derek living there.
She had a talk with Stiles, asking for help. She knew that Stiles would do it even if Derek didnât want his help. Specially his help. Derek didnât want to look weak. The talk had the effect she wanted. About two weeks since then, she half listen half saw his kids (because, yes, Derek was his kid too) at the kitchen. Stiles was irritated.
âWhy didnât you say anything before?! Let me seeâ
âStilesâŠdonâtâŠitâs okayâ
âNo, itâs not. Let. Me. See.â Sighing, Derek took his shirt off.
Claudia saw Stilesâ cheeks turned a soft pink, but he managed a âOh my Godâ. Not because Derek himself, but because Derek had cuts and bruises all over him. His arms and hands were the worst.
âHow this happened?â Stiles asked softer.
âIâŠI donât know how to be human. I keep trying to do things and having cuts with a knife or with stupid paper. â
âCome here. I have supplies at my roomâ
âYou donât have toâŠâ
âI have. Mom and dad let you stay for a reasonâ
Claudia moved from her hiding spot and saw the pair going upstairs.
xxXxxXxxXxx
They had a minor accident. John asked Derek to watch the food in the oven. The food became to burn, and when Derek realized, the kitchen had smoke in the air. Claudia found Derek crying over the ruined food muttering about âhow the wolf senses always helped himâ and âalmost killed everyone againâ. Stiles was hugging him. Â
xxXxxXxxXxx
Derek had an ankle sprain trying to carry too much boxes from his old loft. He didnât talk with anyone until he could walk fine again. Stiles made several trips on the jeep to move the rest of the things. Â
xxXxxXxxXxx
Claudia did her best soup the first time Derek had the flu. He never had fever before and was scared of it. He was suffering for a whole day until Stiles caught him sneezing. When he got better Stiles asked her if she could buy twice the amount of medicine they had before. Â
xxXxxXxxXxx
Claudia was taking care of the garden when she heard a crash. Big crash. And Stiles voice calling for help. She ran around the house, following the sound.
âWhat happened?â Â
âIâm fineâ but Derek was holding back pain. Claudia saw the same expression on Stiles so many timesâŠ
âYou, donât move. Mom, call an ambulance!â
âWhat happened?â she insisted.
What happened was Derek falling from the roof and breaking an arm. His boys fought all the way until the hospital. Derek wanted to do something, since he didnât have a job and fixing the roof was his idea. Stiles screamed at him that he didnât need to do things. Claudia didnât say anything, just watched.
After the hospital and a cast later, they were going back to the house. Derek spent the ride home in silence and went straight to his room. Stiles was still upset at him. Derek didnât show up for dinner. Claudia checked on him before sleep.
âAre you okay, Der?â
He smiled at the nickname. âIâll be fineâ
âYou can talk to me, you know? Come on. Tell me.â
Derek hesitated, exhaled, and finally talked. âI feel like Stiles is mad at me for being an idiot as a human. I donât want him see me like that.â
âHe isnât mad at you, he is mad because you donât let him help you. He cares about youâ
âI knowâ
Claudia looked at him for a moment until she realized. âYou know how he feels about you, donât you?â
âI have problems being human but I was a wolf. He never was subtleâ He answered, the tip of his ears red. Â
âBut you didnât say anything. Why?â
âHe could do better. And now Iâm useless. I want to take care of him, protect him and I canât. Not anymore. He used to make my life as a werewolf so easy. But now is too hardâ Â
âHe protected you before, and he was human. You can protected too. Just listen. John needs someone at the station. Someone at the desk. Talk to him and the job is yours. Then talk to Stiles and let him decide if he is better with or without you.â
âWhy are you telling me this? I thought mothers tend to wish the best for his kidsâ
âYou are my kid too. And you are the best for my Stiles like he is the best for you. Talk to him. Or Iâm going to lock you up in a room until you figure this out. Iâm tired of you two pinningâ Claudia laughed, enjoying the face Derek made.
xxXxxXxxXxx
âI know you did somethingâ
Claudia was cleaning the table after a late dinner (because his husband had weird shifts) when John surprised her at the kitchen. Â
âMe?â
âYeah, you. Derek went today asking for a job. And now I was about to ask him if he wanted to watch the game with me. You know what I found?â
âNo ideaâ
âYour son and Derek, sleeping together, cuddling. Care to explain how that happened?â
Claudia count help but laugh. Every time he was mad at her, Stiles was âher sonâ on not his.
âMaybe I pushed Derek a littleâ
âWhy you had to do this? I was hoping this happen on Christmas.â
âWhat?â Claudia was confused John smirked. âAbout time. I was sick of those two. Maybe now they'll stop mopping around. But the pack made a bet about when those two will start to date.â
âAnd you didnât tell me?â Claudia punched him in the arm. âWho win?â
âMelissaâ
xxXxxXxxXxx
Next morning, Claudia went to wake up the boys. She found Stiles sleeping like a starfish on top of Derek, while he was reading some book about police and deputies.
âBreakfast is readyâ Claudia whispered.
âThank youâ Derek mouthed. Â
âYouâre welcome.â Â And Claudia knew it wasnât just for the pancakes.
Let This Rain Pour
Sterek week, day five, and the theme is canon divergent. Had to skip yesterday because of school things, but a fic WILL be posted in the collection on my ao3 :)Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What are you doing here? This is private prop-" Derek stops in his tracks, staring at the young boy sitting against a tree, clutching another boy in his arms. Despite the cold air outside and the shivers wracking his body, his jacket is wrapped around torso of the boy in his lap and his plaid shirt draped over his legs like a blanket. He can't see the face of the other, but the smell of death is different here, newer than the one lingering over the woods from Lau-
From last night.
