How would you feel
Part 2 to Something Like This ->Here
Eleven - Landing crop
Derek could smell the sweet fragrances from a mile back. There was a faint underlying scent of pre-rain and cinnamon, the tell-tale signs that Stiles was already waiting… and pacing, if the waves of the scent were any indication. Derek couldn’t help but smile as he bound a little faster towards Landing Crop.
As he broke through the edge of the trees into the small cove, a gust of wind rushed down over his shoulders, making him stand still until it finished its travels to his feet. He glanced down, lips upturning slightly at the complete wardrobe change.
Where his normal t-shirt and jeans were, now laid a dark green suit coat and matching trousers. A nearly white dress shirt, tinted blue, lay under the coat with the top three buttons open. He couldn’t help the little chuckle bubbling up in his chest as he glanced up to see Stiles grinning at him from across the cove.
“Didn’t like my choices?” Derek teased as he strode towards Stiles, noticing the other man had on a matching suit in deep brown.
Stiles head tilted, eyes flicking over Derek as he was closing the distance. “Of course not. I am one of your choices, after all.” The smirk on his lips grew as he moved forward, teleporting himself right against Derek.
Derek took a sharp intake of breath, the familiar smell of pre-rain and cinnamon calming him and his wolf. Their eyes mapped each other's features, taking in all the minor changes, new lines or freckles. Any small detail they could while they had the chance. Stiles moved first, his hand coming up to softly trail along Derek’s jaw, the stubble slightly rough against his fingertips.
“I’ve missed you.” The quietness of Derek's confession caught even himself off guard.
“And I’ve, you.” Stiles response was just as soft, his fingers moving back to curl in Derek's hair as their eyes held a whole conversation that words would never be able to express.
Derek wrapped his arms around Stiles back, feeling the build and energy that was just under the surface, and dipped his head to meet the soft cupid bow lips with his own. The kiss started out soft, light with small breaks because they both couldn’t stop smiling and kept tapping their teeth together. Stiles leaned his forehead against Derek's, his hand on Derek's hip moved slowly up, taking his time to smooth over every plane of his lovers torso before coming to a stop at Derek's throat.
A small, pleased sound rumbled in Derek's chest as he tilted his head in submission to Stiles. Their noses brushed along the tip, Stiles fingers dipping to pull Derek’s collar to the side until their mark peeked from under the fabric. Derek’s heartbeat skipped then sped up as Stiles traced the outline, soft golden sparks following his fingers. He planted three soft kisses on Derek’s lips.
With a growl on the last kiss Derek grabbed a handful of Stiles’ coat and kissed him hard, eliciting a noise of appreciation from the other man. They deepened the kiss after a moment, tongues tasting each other, lips getting gently bit and licked, before Stiles leaned back.
The normally amber eyes were a bright grey, like the sky before the storms roll in, and Derek could only smile at the effect he could cause, thinking of all the different colors he had seen in Stiles eyes. Derek went to lean in for another kiss, hoping to see the dark blue grey next, but was stopped by the palm still against his throat.
“Easy, heart.” Stiles chuckled, watching the tips of Derek’s ears turn red and leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose. “I have a plan, no jumping steps on me.” His thumb stroked softly down the cord of Derek’s neck.
“Mmm.. And what’s the plan, soul?” It was Stiles turn to blush and Derek leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose. Stiles tilted his head at the last minute and caught Derek’s kiss on his lips, licking at the bottom lip, nibbling teasingly before he stepped back twice and turned toward the shore line.
Stiles moved his arms in a few different motions, stepping towards the water as Latin words tumbled from his lips. The water rolled around before shooting up and forming a half inch thick dome over the cove near the tree tops. Derek watched the shifting of the waves above them and the soft moonlight being refracted down.
He is so entranced with the water that he starts when Stiles slides their hands together. Snapping his eyes to his mates he offers a small smile in apology. “It’s wonderful, Stiles.”
“You had said you wanted to know what it would be like to live underwater.” Stiles explains, looking up at the dome and squeezing their hands softly.
A soft chuckle comes from Derek as he moves in front of Stiles, cupping his chin to make their eyes meet. “That was fifteen years ago, and we weren’t even friends. Why on earth would you remember that?”
Stiles eyes go a light purple as he smiles, lifting his free hand to comb through Derek's hair, settling at the nape of his neck before speaking. “Do you remember when we first bumped into each other?”
“Yes.” Derek's ears go a soft red at the memory as he closes his eyes. “You tripped over the mat in gym and fell right on my back as I was doing a push up.”
Stiles huffs out a laugh, scratching at Derek's neck for a moment before leaning in and kissing him softly. “Yeah. We will blame the mat.” Derek's eyes open, sharing a grin with Stiles as he slides his fingers under the hem of Stiles’ coat.
“We’ve both joked that if we hadn’t had gotten together, or met, etcetera, that I wouldn’t have my magic. As it turns out though, we were right in a way. At the training they had us travel back, which was not pleasant, and I got to see the actual process from third person. When I fell ontop of you that day, it kick started the process-.” Derek cut Stiles’ ramble off with a deep kiss, sliding his hand farther up under his mates coat.
After a moment Stiles’ laugh breaks the kiss, “Okay, okay. I know. The point is, heart, that both magic me and mundane me knew you were special back then. That reminded me of your wonder about living under water.” At that, they both look up at the water dome and Stiles continues, “because even if we weren’t friends then, I saved the information because you were always someone important to me. Even if I tried to act like you weren’t.”
“You did try very hard.” Derek smirks at Stiles before getting his hair pulled. They both laugh, leaning their foreheads against each others and sway lightly. “I love you, Stiles.”
“I love you, Derek.” Stiles echos back, nuzzling their noses together. “There is a part two to this though.” Flicking his wrist towards the rock, a soft guitar and piano melody starts to float around them.
Derek smiles, taking one of Stiles hands in his, leaving the other to skim along his mates back as he bows slightly then steps off to waltz them around the cove. He hums along to the words, twirling Stiles, who giggles and comes back to him with a kiss, getting dipped in the middle of it.
As they step off again Stiles lifts them up into the air, soft golden clouds cushioning their feet as it rises them a few feet below the water. Derek shakes his head, stopping the waltz to pull Stiles flush up against him so they can sway to the music and he lays his head on his mates shoulder.
“How would you feel?” Derek whisper sings. “If I told you I loved you?” He licks a trail along the cord of Stiles neck. “Taking my time. Spending my life. Falling deeper in love with you.”
“I’m telling you I love you too.” Stiles sings back, tweaking the lyrics a bit and turns his head to capture his lovers lips in a deep, passionate kiss. They slowly start to lower back to the floor, tongues and teeth coming into play as they completely forget about anything but the other in their arms.
