Dean had been spending the past weeks texting back and forth with Y/n. Since everything was getting worse between Sam and Lucifer. Dean becomes more and more overprotective with his brother. It was all starting to roll into one.

It's snowballing and it's becoming too much for me to handle. What would you do if you knew you were going to lose your brother to a literal comic begin and there's not a way to stop it?

I toggled with the idea for a few days. Do I message her? Do I call her? Do I just show up at her house? No that sounds creepy. The latter of these many choices would just cause her panic.

What am I doing? All of the sudden now I care, well I've always cared but this is taking it overboard. She's been a hunter all of her life. She knows what comes with being one. The always being in a panic, on the run, and in a near-death situation. I can understand why she got out when she could.

> Hey it's me, Dean.

> Dean how are you?

> I've been doing just fine. I heard that you got out.

Oh, this is going odd. This is odd maybe I should go to see her. This is weird. I don't know how to do this. All my swagger and charm is kind of going out the window. I wonder how she looks, I wonder if she still smells like roses and the summertime?

Jesus Dean, get a hold of yourself.

> Yeah, this was just becoming too much. I can't stand so many people dying around me.

>Well I get that.

>Do you want to meet for coffee?

There was a long moment where all I saw was the three dots bouncing at the bottom of my screen. Then they disappeared. "or not," I said out loud, this has to be the most frustrating thing I've done in a long time.

Why would you even want to talk over a text message? You've got no clue if that other person is number one even reading your message, and number two, the stupid three dots are fucking annoying.

And then boom there was Y/n's message. A sound of a ping drawing my attention back to the screen.

> Yeah, we can meet. When do you want to meet? Where? I know this really cute quiet place on broadway street, it may be a bit of a drive, but they've got pie, so knowing you you'll be there before I even wake up. LOL.

Oh no wonder the dots were bouncing at the bottom of my screen, because she was writing a paragraph. Oh pie, I hope they have good coffee.

>Broadway street where?

I asked, it doesn't matter about the drive, just would you know like to know where I'm going.

>Broadway street in Tennessee. I know that probably far from where you are. Sam said that you had a case.

I thought for a moment, if I got on the move now, I could get there to Tennessee by the morning. Sam and her talk... That does.. that t doesn't matter.

>Sure I could be they by say tomorrow morning.

>If that's alright with you Y/n.

What are you doing Dean? You don't need a normal life, after after Sam goes. You can just hunt, work under bobby's help with wrecked and old cars because I'm sorry I don't want to ever be stuck driving a shitty old van again.

>Yeah that sounds like a plan I'll send the direction to the coffee shop later, also a motel from the yellow pages.... Or you could you know just stay with me. I wouldn't mind the company.

She wouldn't mind the company. I'm good company to her. Wow. Again there's that special feeling again. That odd butterflies in my stomach type of feeling.

What is going on?

>okay, see you then.

That was all I could say, I think if I had said anything else I either might have exploded or been embarrassed.

Thank god that hunt was rather quick, easy enough to do on my own. Sam messaged me asking me if I had bothered Y/n about going out for coffee. Dude, get off my back about it, like really.

The drive that night was smooth, I had my music loud. It boomed as I drove down the road. I watched the sunset in whatever state I had been in. I watched the stars start to play against the night sky, and then there was the hot morning sun, the highway becoming crowded by morning traffic.

By the time I had gotten into town, it was busy. I ended up just rolling up to the coffee job since Y/n had messaged me saying that she had gotten there early and even got up a booth instead of those uncomfy tables.

I parked locking the doors. Not really liking to leave my doors unlocked seeing as lots of people just want to take my baby. I walked in to see a bustling coffee shop, but out of all the people in the shop, I could see Y/ns figure.

She was wearing a red summer dress. It was so bold compared to all the identical suits and grays in there. She waved me over, seeing her hair bounce as she moved her shoulders.

"Looking pretty good Dean." She said as I sat down across from in the booth. "I could say the same for you, Y/n," I said smiling. Jeez, this is the first time I'd smiled for a long time. She was making me smile and I'd only been here for a few seconds.

'I just got you your normal, black with sugar coffee.: She said pushing the still-warm cup in my direction. She remembers my coffee order, what am I in right now? A romantic novel, a cheesy rom-com of a movie.

"So how was the drive? I bet the highway was crowded. She said giggling a little. "The traffic was worse the closer I got into town," I said before taking the first long sip of my warm coffee, shit this I good. I must have hummed or let a moan of satisfaction because /n looked up at me and smiled.

"That good Winchester." She said.

"Here's your apple, and cherry pie. ma'am. Have a good day." A young man said before walking away. "You didn't," I said looking at her over the brim of my coffee cup. "I did, it's my treat for you driving out for so long." She said pushing the apple pie in my direction.

Now I'd like to think of myself as the pie expert. "I know that you've had pie from literally everywhere, but I'd like to think that this place has the best pies." She said taking a sip of her coffee.

This is where the awkward moment came in hand. The silence between us was thick, I hadn't seen Y/n in what felt like a decade, but in reality, it had only been five years tops.

Y/n had changed so much, in the best ways I think. Five years ago, she would have been grumpy and pissed that we were just sitting down and having a normal interaction. Y/n I think all those years ago craved the adventure of the hunt, the chase in a way.

Five years ago, Y/n facial features were hard, and sharp from being in the game for so long. It was hard and mostly sharp for the fact that she was constantly trying not to lose people.

This Y/n that sat in front of me. She smiled, no forced happy moments. She laughed like she meant it. She was beautiful, and she knew it. She had changed into a soft, compassionate person. She was the brightest person in this entire coffee shop.

She shined so brightly, she looked healthy, looked like he was finally on the right track. I know according to Sam her partner had been killed during a hunt from what I can remember.

To be honest I wasn't really paying attention when he was talking. Maybe that was because I had all my focus on Y/n, my thoughts sort of clouded by her imagines of her, that peachy, rose-like amora she just had around her.

"So Dean.. How's life been?" Oh, thank the gods that she was also feeling this awkward sensation I was feeling. I pilled the rest of the apple pie into my mouth and fore swallowed before talking.

"Lifes been... hell. I'm gonna be honest with you. Dad died a few years ago. And now there's a bunch of shit I went to hell for Sammy y'know, and now Sam has started the apocalypse and he's going to be by possessed by Lucifer, yeah I know, he goes to hell to save the world." I said catching my breath, not that I had noticed that I had lost it.

Y/n just was fixated on me. As if she had been turned into a wax statue. She soon was broken out of her gaze on me and licked her lips. "So what I've been through doesn't even start to touch what the two of you Winchester boys have been going through." A little confusion rose in me.

What had Y/n been going through? I wonder if it was just as bad as we had been going through. I wanna know now. I wonder if that makes me creepy or nosy in her eyes.

"What's been going on with you?" I questioned, treading light on this conversation for the simple fact that I had no clue what I was getting myself into, and I didn't really want to upset her.

"So, I bet that you heard that I lost my last partner on my last hunt, now yes that was months ago, but what nobody know is..." There was a pregnant pause I could see just a little that she was trying to get a hold of her breathing. Her pampered faced was starting to get redder by the moment. I sat waiting, then spoke.

"Y/n you don't have to explain it to me," I said reaching over the gray booth table and grabbing her hand, clammy but it didn't bother me. She squeezed my hand, I just sat like this waiting again for her to start again.

"My last partner, it was my mom." She squeaked out trying her best to stop the tears. "You know you can cry right?" I asked her she started to sob, a few people looked over at me. I guess they had thought I broke up with her. "And just me say this if anybody right now says anything I promise you they'll get a good one-two to the face."

I had made her laugh because she hiccuped as the sobs started to end. I reached over and wiped a few tears that had unfortunately fallen down her cheeks.

Let me say this Y/n hand was soft in comparison to my callused rough, and dirty hands. What I wasn't ready for was how soft, and plump like her cheek was when I swiped her tears away. She was still holding my hand, still squeezing I could feel my mother's ring digging into my finger, but it wasn't something that I was worried about.

Y/n hiccuped and began to talk again. "then there's of course the douchebag guy I started dating. I felt like a damsel in distress, I thought he was my knight in shining armor. That was a lie though." She said, looking down at our hands clasped together, a saw the smallest of smiles cross her still red face.

"If I didn't know that monsters existed I'd say that dating the douchebag Devin was a monster enough. God, he played so nice, he played like my knight in shining armor. He wasn't a hunter." She stated, giving me only more information, for some reason I very much wanted to find this Devin guy and bash his face into the hot cement ground. I hummed and Y/n continued.

"You know, I thought I was safe, but I wasn't. That man was bad. Bad like..." She looked off at the front door of the coffee shop. The number of people slowly becoming less and less by the minute.

"He was abusive Dean, He took what he wanted, and I thought I deserved it. I thought that I had to live that life. Dean, you know me? Tell me why I would put myself at such a low level like Dean, Please." She was pleading with me to have the answer.

She had just a lot of things out, her mother passing away most likely in front of her, then this Devin guy. How do you have the balls to be abusive to anyone, especially Y/n she's nothing but compassion and love. I don't understand it.

"Y/n sweetheart, You thought something. You sadly got manipulated. You were made to believe that you deserved that sort of treatment. Please I'm telling you this right now. Y/n look at me, please. You deserve the best out of life, especially now." I said moving my thumb gently over her smaller hand.

"Y/n, please tell me you know that?" I asked questioning her. She hummed. She looked down at our hands, again smiling. "I missed talking with you, Dean." She whispered. I picked up my coffee cup and released Y/ns hand, she looked up at me.

"Come on, direct me to your humble abode. I think we should sit down watch a movie." I say reaching my unused hand out for Y/n to grab a hold of my hand. I pulled her up she grabbed her belongings and walked hand in hand with me to my impala.

"Your car over here?" I asked. She shook her head, 'no', "I live about a five-minute walk from here, so my cars at home." She said as I opened the passenger side door. I hummed and walked over getting into the driver's seat.
