Forgot to post, but I was super excited to see captive bred steppe runners at repticon, they were adorable!!
'So... come here often?' Baby Steppe Runner (Eremias arguta) that is at the store I work at! He's still skittish but I try handling him when I feed him. The sand they originally had him on stained him pink along his belly and legs and we had to move it off of it anyway cause he was eating it even though we fed him in a critter keeper I want to take him home but I don't have the space and my parents would kill me for having another lizard :( he already came over from another one of our stores.
Alright y'all, I'm looking into stocking for my exoterra. It's 24x18x12, so 432 square inches. I can't do frogs or tarantulas/scorpions and I don't want to get another leopard gecko.
I was thinking about getting a steppe runner. My only concern is that I can't find much solid information on them in captivity. My main concern in regards to that is substrate, since my instinct is to shy away from sand but I mostly see sand recommended. I know they're newish to the hobby but does anyone have a good care sheet or know anyone with solid info?
sticker commissions of Riker, Troi, and Worf for @smolgingerchicken! i really enjoyed doing frogs too! and that steppe runner is very special : )

Thank you everyone who responded about my inquiry about lll reptiles, Ive decided Im uncomfortable ordering an animal through the mail (unless it was coming from a reputable breeder)Im going to keep checking the aquarium I got Dab from and going to the reptile conventions and hoping someone eventually has some steppe runners
I swear emotional pain can be just as powerful as physical pain, when I found Dab dead in her cage it hurt so bad that it temporarily made my chronic pain seam less severe all because my mind was suffering from all the emotional pain of loosing her, I put my heart and soul into that little lizard, she dragged me out of my dabiltating darkness left from losing Mylakite. Im thankful I was able to immortalize her through my tumblr blog but taking care of her became a very important part of me. Kevin bought her for me right after my last suicide attempt to help pull me out of my life crisis. She aided in my healing of all the things that were broken in me at the time. I had seen an article about steppe runners back in 2012 and wanted one since she was on my list of dream reptiles that I hope to care for in my lifetime. I worked so hard to build up to where she trusted me, every moring she would greet me on her favorite rock. Sometimes the pain of loss can make other pains seam dull in comparison.
I made Dab a memorial necklace with one of her foot sheds
