Steph Gold presents: Rollercoaster 🎢
A great folky song
Steph Gold says:
“Rollercoaster” was inspired, among other things, by Radiohead. Their music sparked something in me and became one of the reasons I started writing this song.
The rollercoaster became a metaphor for life – for all its highs and lows, the constant movement, and the endless loops our minds can get stuck in.
The line “I woke up sober” describes a moment of clarity. It’s about stepping back, looking at everything from the outside, and realizing you’re ready to let go. It’s about listening to yourself again, trusting your own voice instead of constantly following what everyone else seems to be doing, and having the courage to stay true to yourself.
But that’s where the inner conflict begins. Even when you know what feels right, it’s hard to fully trust yourself. You want to let go, but fear keeps pulling you back. The pressure to fit in, the fear of standing out, and the feeling that you always have to meet other people’s expectations can become louder than your own voice.
