Currently in listening to an audiobook… okay, I’ll rephrase. My current audiobook is The Stand by Stephen King. And apparently it’s his revised version. Didn’t know there was one. This one has over 150,000 more words added.

🛑 WARNING- SPOILERS ABOUT THE STAND AHEAD 🙃 Just in case!

Now, this is one of my favorite movies. I’ve wanted to read it but… seriously have you seen the size of that book? If I try to put that in my purse, I’ll have no more purse! 😂 Anyway… when watching the movie I’ve always wondered if the super flu hit the rest of the world. I mean I assume so since there were flights going overseas the whole time. But the book… omg, he made our government seem positively diabolical. And currently, I don’t know if the current administration would be so stealthy about it. 🤣 Anyway!

Moving on, overseas… yes, that’s where the book made my jaw drop. If I understood the army correctly, they had people in different countries with vials of the super flu waiting to see if they’d have to release it or not. And he gave the order to have them release it so that America wouldn’t look guilty of creating it. 👀 Talk about shocked. Just… wow. Moving on!

There are stories of people in the book that are… great and interesting, sometimes mind boggling stories that have nothing to do with the story as a whole.

Example (this one I won’t forget for a while): The girl is alone, I can’t remember her age but she’s a young woman. Her momma told her men want only one thing. And if you don’t give it willingly they will take it anyway by raping you. But momma isn’t around anymore and she sees men outside and she’s scared. But then she remembers that momma had a box of daddy’s stuff shoved in the back of the attic and she remembered what was in there. She quietly makes her way to the attic, she doesn’t want to be raped. And digs through the box and finds the small wooden box that has his gun. She lifts the flaps and pulls out green bullets and puts them in the gun, she thinks bullet can’t go bad like milk and bread. So then she walks outside to sit on the porch to read her book with the gun besides her, guy shows up, says hello darling out something like that and she points the gun and him and he doesn’t moves just suggests she lowers the gun… she pulls the trigger and the gun blows up and she kinda does too. …

… why was that even in the book? 😂 and there are more stories like this! Just tragic stupid choices, one an addict that was too far gone to think straight. But there are some interesting stories.

While listening, I mentally saw the characters how they are in the movie but now a few have changed because how they are described in the book… that’s not who they are in the movie. Harold for example, serious example… Harold is 16 maybe turned 17 during their ride to end up in Colorado. But he’s also kinda overweight, has a love of payday candy bars and Fran who sadly still sees him as her best friend’s little brother. He’ll probably always be in that box in her eyes.

I think I’m going to just buy the audiobook, I obviously love the story and I know I’ll listen to it again. It’s a great story and I want to finish it but I borrowed it from the library along with the book It … now there’s another book that was way different than the movie but, funnily enough listening to the book made me less freaked out about clowns 🧐 But since that book is about 45 hours long I listened to it first, got the creepy book over with. But after that I needed to not listen to another Stephen King book for a bit. Then I forgot it was waiting for me and now I have 46% of it listened to and it goes back automatically on the 4th at 7:01pm. My library app is nice enough to give me the exact time they plan to take away my book. How Rude! 😂

I honestly can’t wait to hear the rest of this story… even though I know what happens in the movie, only the bare minimum seems to be in the movie at times. They’ve remixed one character, moved another over to somewhere else, created a new one (all of this is what the movie has done), removed scenes, removed injuries, and I’m just glad to know Stephen King helped them hack and saw his book into that tv mini series.

Mother Abigail had six boys, those boys gave her 32 grandkids, those grands gave her 91 great grands and when the super flu hit she already had 3 great great grands. Like… omg lol Sadly, before the super flu, she had already outlived her sons, some of her grands… she is 108 and still makes her own biscuits. 😂
