Adore You
2. Sunday Roast
The week had moved quickly and itâs now Sunday and Lottie and I are heading next door for a Sunday roast with Anne, Gem and Harry, which Lottie is very excited to meet. Weâre stood outside Anne house holding some cupcakes that Lottie and I had been baking all morning. Lottie rings the bell and in no time at all Anne opens up the door with a bug smile on her face
âAnne we made cupcakes for pudding!â Lottie says excitedly
âThey look delicious. Come on inâ Anne steps aside then leads us into the kitchen. I place down the cupcakes on her counter top. Lottie immediately runs into Gemmaâs arms, who picks her up and snuggles her. So far all of this is normal, until someone I have never met, but feel like I know way to much about, comes into the kitchen. Harry. Sleeves rolled up his arms, showing off his tattoos.
âHarry, this is my neighbour Lizzie and her daughter Lottieâ
âHeard a lot about you bothâ Harry holds out his hand for me to shake. I look over at Anne who is just beaming with happiness
âHiâ I say shaking his hand
âMum itâs Harry Styles, donât be embarrassing, be coolâ Lottie whisper shouts to me making everyone laugh. Gem puts Lottie down, Harry bends down to her level âhello mr Harry Styles itâs nice to meet youâ
âHarry is just fine and itâs lovely to meet you. Did you make the cupcakes?â
âMmmhum me and mum made them. We didnât know what your favourite colour was but I like pink. Thatâs why mums cafe is pinkâ
âPink is perfect thank youâ Harry then stands up smiling
âLotts dinners nearly ready can you go and wash your hands?â Anne asks
âOkâ Lottie then skips off to the bathroom humming and singing âgoldenâ to her self
âSorry sheâs a huge fan. Sheâs been listening to your music since Anne told her you were her sonâ
âThatâs alright. Itâs sweetâ
âHow has her first week at school gone?â Gemma asks as we start taking plates into the dining room
âErm ok. Sheâs still pretty nervous going in, but sheâs definitely getting there. Sheâs been mentioning a few names, i wonder if I had took her to nursery if she would know more of the kidsâ
âMaybe, but you did what was best for you and Lotts at the timeâ Anne gives me a sympathetic smile. I can see Harry looking a little confused, but doesnât say anything which I appreciate. Lottie runs into the dinning room, and sits down in her seat
Lottie is the first to tuck into her food, Gemma is sat next to Lottie, Anne next to me and Harry is sat to the other side of me, as if heâs at the head of the table
âAnne you have out done yourself yet againâ I take taking a bite of food
âMum canât cookâ Lottie says
âOi you cheeky monkeyâ
âOk you can, but youâre better at making cakesâ
âHmmmâ I playfully scowl at my daughter
The rest of dinner goes by complimenting Anneâs food and Harry talking about what he plans on doing while on a break from tour. Anne goes to get the plate of cupcakes from the kitchen and hands us all one each
âSo Lottie, do you help your mum in the cafe?â Harry asks
âYepâ she says popping the p and looking very proud of herself âmum lets me mix the cake mixture and Iâm her number one taste tasterâ
âImportant jobâ
âMaybe you can come to the cafe, but I know you might want to stay inside because mum says lots of people will want to say hi to you and you might be busyâ
âIâd love to come to the cafe. Maybe you could give me a lesson on making cupcakesâ Lotties eyes widen with excitement
âTomorrow?â
âWoah girl calm down. You have school in the morningâ
âOhhâ Lottie sinks into the chair looking rather sad
âWhat time do you finish school?â
âMum what time do I finish?â
â3:15â
âIâll swing by about 4 then, how does that sound?â Lotties eyes then widen with excitement
âYayâ
Gem takes Lottie into the living room to play a game with her, Anne is tidying up while Iâm washing up and Harry is drying up
âYou donât have to come tomorrow, I can tell her somethings come upâ
âWhy disappoint her. Iâm free. As long as itâs ok with you Iâd love to come and see the cafeâ thereâs a small moment of quiet âmum mentioned you both a lot to meâ
âOh noâ I laugh thinking of all the embarrassing things she could have told him
âNothing bad, promise, but itâs made me want to meet you and my number one fanâ Harry nods his head towards the living room âshe talks highly of youâ
âYour mum has been a rock to me and Lottie. I honestly donât know what I would do without her. My parents havenât spoken to me since they found out I was pregnant, but your mum has been more of a mum to me in 6 years than my mum had in 20 odd yearsâ
âTheir lossâ harry nudges me slightly
âMum Harry hurry up!â Lottie says running into the kitchen âweâre playing unoâ
âOk. We will be in there in 5 minutes okâ I tell her. I look back at Harry, not Harry Styles the pop sensation, but Harry Styles a son and brother. Someone human.
