#stenbrough angst

BUDDY, I HAVE SO MANY I PICKED 3 SCENARIOS AND MADE THEM HEADCANONS SO. (stenbrough is my otp and this physically PAINED me to write this. Hope you like it, even though i’m crying in the club.)

SCENARIO 1- OBLIVIOUS

bill is completely oblivious to stan’s feelings

bill thinks it’s kinda weird he likes one of his closest friends like that, & he pushes his feelings away

and poor stan is just heartbroken, because he’s so blindly in love with bill and he shows no interest

i hATE MYSELF FOR THIS, but I think bill would date another girl/guy to try and get rid of his ‘abnormal’ feelings for stan, bUT POOR STAN

could you just imagine stan’s crestfallen face when bill introduced said s/o to the loser’s club, and him desperately trying to keep a smile?

stan would distance himself from the losers

the same stan who spends every night sobbing over his best friend who he’s in love with who he misses so much

bill, on the other hand, isn’t much better

he’s forcing himself to be with another person when he’s oh-so-clearly in love with stan

bill can’t bring himself to break up with them though

obliviously, breaking not only his, but stanley’s heart.

SCENARIO 2- BREAK UP

stan doesn’t think he’s good enough for bill, and bill feels the same about stan

stan’s convinced bill would be so much better without him, so he breaks up with him

Stan asks bill to the park, “we need to talk.”

Bill, a bright smile on his face at the thought of seeing his boyfriend, hops on his bike and pedals with ease to the park, to see stan waiting, eyes to the ground.

whatever you do, don’t imagine stanley trying so desperately to keep a straight face, taking a deep breath and looking bill dead in the eyes, “i can’t do this anymore. we’re done.”

bill’s eyes just immediately start watering, and he doesn’t even try to fight the tears, he’s speechless

stan just turns- as soon as his face is hidden from bill, the tears starting falling, and he can’t stop. he walks away without another look.

with every step he takes, he can feel his heart shattering even more

bill has to stumble home- he can’t even find it in himself to ride back on the bike, he has to walk it home. he can barely stand, and his vision is blurred with tears.

bill comes home to an empty house

as soon as bill gets in the safety of his room, he collapses on his bed, sobbing and screaming, because he didn’t know where he went wrong

stan’s in his room, laying on his back, tears silently rolling down his cheeks. he’s wracked in guilt and heartbreak, and just wants to wrap bill in his arms and tell him it’s okay, but he can’t.

because bill isn’t his anymore- and in stan’s mind, it’s the best for the man he loves

SCENARIO 3- CHEATING

Bill was hanging out at the park one day, waiting for the losers up to arrive

At this point, stan and bill were dating, only to the knowledge of the losers

Greta just happened to be there, walking past

She just kinda came onto him and flirted, and he somewhat played along, not wanting to expose his relationship

Greta kissed him, and stanley just so happened to pull up his bike then.

Bill pulls away, disgusted bc he was with stan

And the two of them just hear the the most hEART WRENCHING SOB

Poor stanley’s distraught, and hops right back on his bike and goes home as fast as he can

Bill tries to chase after him, but he’s not fast enough and he knows stan will need space

Bill blows up on greta who is confused as fuck but just shrugs and leaves without a care.

Bill just starts sobbing, and goes home, hating himself for letting it happen

He knows there really wasn’t anything he could do, he wasn’t expecting it

But he still was so filled with guilt he just cried

Stan is in his room, looking at himself in the mirror and pointing out his flaws

The flaws that bill used to kiss and tell him he loved

Stan thinks bill finally got tired of his ‘stupid, ugly, annoying self’ and moved on

He’s convinced he did something wrong, and that bill’s been with greta the entire time because he wasn’t good enough

Both boys can’t stand it and spend the night thinking about each other with tear stained cheeks and puffy eyes.
