❛  Huh  ? ❜   He's  taken  off  guard,  but  never  completely,  and  the  answer  lingers  on  his  tongue,  uncertain  of  its  own  identity.  Shoulders  straighten  as  his  thoughts  go  looking  for  something  they'll  never  find,  and  he  wonders  if  he  ever  knew  there  was  such  a  thing  as  too  much  lip  gloss…  and  can  there  be  too  little?  Would  it  be  something  he  knew  before?  Musings  that  mean  nothing  rattle  in  his  mind,  and  seconds  pass  as  she  awaits  his  response.

Gaze  shifts  to  her  lips,  almost  instinctively,  like  he's  double-checking  or  reminding  himself  of  something,  but  when  he  realizes  the  intimacy  of  the  situation,  he  feels  his  throat  clog  with  discomfort.  The  most  subtle  cough  clears  him  only  enough  to  speak  with  a  weak,   ❛  Yeah.  ❜
