The EP is about gaining momentum before taking a leap of faith and realizing, “perfection” or “being overly ready” is an impossible ideal to reach. The EP addresses polarizations in our lives, opening dialogues of the “in-betweens” rather than extremes around balance and positioning when emotions or situations appear dual. Solid sources recorded in 2020 is about gathering forces, recognizing the strength of telling one’s own story and the empowering energy it brings especially when silenced by structural violence. Ebiere is about grief and hope and Leap of Faith, about feeling solid enough to jump into the unknown despite fear. Really it’s about change and liberation, a new set of rules yet to be created and discovered both individually and collectively. It’s important to us to mention the political context in which the EP is released. It echoes the current waves of extreme division, challenging orders in place and calling for global Liberation. Engaging our sense of action, empathy, solidarity and resilience, FOR ALL to have the undeniable right to live and lead meaningful lives.

Gordan mirror the mysticism of legends and stories from the Balkan region, creating a music that stretches between expressiveness and abstraction; tradition and the avant-garde. The visceral vocals of Svetlana Spajic (Marina Abramovic, Robert Wilson, Antony and the Johnsons) are both rooted and deeply interpretive. In turn, drummer Andi Stecher (STECHER, Billy Bultheel, Orchestre Les Mangelepa) and Guido Möbius on bass and electronics, employ sonic strategies that steer the songs in inspired and unpredictable directions.

Kinshasa based sculptor and sound artist Mvunzi Muteba works with found and recycled materials to create his artworks, costumes and instruments. STECHER is a producer,drummer and composer working globally on cutting edge collaborations and solo productions, pushing the boundaries of genre limits and style confinements. La Musika Otomatika is envisioning new and modern approaches to create their signature sound and style mixing the traditions of Congolese rumba with the more modern and abstract sound of Mvunzi Muteba's music machines. These machines represent and reproduce the everyday soundscape of Kinshasa, while pointing out the big issues of Pollution in the DRC Capital. YOKA! is the first instalment of La Musika Otomatika's diverse range of future output.
