Steamcrew (placeholder name) is a story I’m working on w themes of recovery, found family, and overthrowing the government! It takes place in a steampunk dystopian city in the clouds and it has a fantasy genre/ characters. It takes place in two major arcs, which I like to call part/stage one and two, which I might refer to by name in drawing descriptions or when answering questions. The difference I’ll highlight rn is that in part one they are all working together as night sweepers, whereas in part two Cali, Hope and Melanthe have joined a rebellion led by Jupiter. Carrie is isolated elsewhere.

(Night sweepers: a job created by the city for cleaning their often crowded and dirty streets at night. During the day they sleep under the city in complexes and during the night each team gets a small section of the city to clean. There’s a whole thing abt what ring of the city they’re working in and pay and stuff but, not gonna get into there here)

Carrie and Cali are missing after running away from their home and stowing away on a rail to the city. Instead of being as far away from their home town as possible, like they thought, the city turns out to have more of their familial ties than they realized. 

Melanthe and Hope have been friends for a few years and start as night sweepers because they both need money. Melanthe can’t get work and Hope needs a place to stay since Melanthe’s family is having a hard time supporting xem. Cali and Carrie end up joining after getting caught sneaking into the city- having nowhere to go, they get sent to sign up for a sweeper team.

Fun facts:

Carrie has sectoral hetrochromia (dark brown-black/dark green) but since they’re both very dark colors it’s really hard to tell.

Carrie and Cali are twins! Cali is the older one.
