Skyla had barely settled into the small room at the local B&B when she’d gone out into the small town, looking for something to eat. She wasn’t exactly happy to have driven all night to cross several state lines. But, it had been a personal request, if one want to be generous by calling it that, that she couldn’t turn down. Well, at least this place reminded her, at least a little bit, of home (minus the mountains and tourists, of course).

The redhead made her way to the local bar and grill, and slid into booth. Her eyes slid around the place, an unknown face among the regulars, she assumed. Which begged the question: what would draw the fae’s attention to this place, especially with a major city not far away.

Drawn from her thoughts by the approach of the waitress, Skyla lifted her eyes  to her and offered a polite smile. ❝What’s good here?❞ she asked. She’d come to learn that small things like enjoying the local favorite whatever was a good way to start making herself and her presence as nonthreatening as possible. Which was always a good thing when she was investigating, well, anything.

Your hair is too short, you are too dumb, too pretty, too thin or too fat.” It’s what you people do. It’s the flaw that came with their free will, once an attractive trait, he now saw it as a nuisance. “You are not human. Embrace it.”

“Risk you being eaten or gorged on by enemies? You would be bait with your blood and your skin. Stay behind and tend to the animals, Sookie.”
