In the mood to yap about Empires 1 worldbuilding, so here we go:

So elves and fae are related, right? A lot of worldbuilding has Rivendell and the Overgrown being close due to that, and I agree, but I want to zoom in specifically on linguistics here.

My personal headcannon is that an elf left Rivendell and founded the Overgrown. As a result, its untranslated name is a mishmash of different languages. One part means "fairy hill" in Gaelic (Rivendellian), and another part means "forest" in Norwegian (Overgrowth)

In sum, the Overgrown's untranslated name is "Sìdheanskog" -- fairy hill forest.

(BTW it would be pronounced something like shee-DAHN-skog, for those of you that would like to know what it would sound like ^^)
