Audio attached and uploaded. In this episode of State of Current Affairs, hosts Lillian Cauldwell and Viki Esther Chang from Singapore share two heartwarming stories that shine a light amid the current gloom and doom. The first story features an eleven-year-old girl from Thailand who wakes up every morning at 3 a.m. to help her mother sell box meals. This effort supports their family expenses, pays for her tuition, and prepares her to support herself as her mother faces imminent kidney failure.
The second story is about a man in India who works as a day laborer, carrying bricks with his father to construction sites and private customers. Despite his exhausting days, he takes online classes at night to become a doctor. Against all odds, he succeeds and fulfills his dream of becoming a doctor.
These stories remind us that the human spirit prevails and to count our blessings.
