Homebrew Tribe for Wings of Fire: Starwings
drifting high in the upper atmosphere of Pyrrhia and beyond, a Tribe of jet black dragons known as the Starwings. A tribe that splintered off from the Nightwings a long, long time ago, well before the age of the Darkstalker, odd, often mistaken for their Nightwing cousins, trafficking in knowledge and maps. Starwings differ physically from the Nightwings by their overly large wings which allow them to cruise happily at altitudes far above what other dragons would struggle to even reach. Starwings also have longer pointed snouts which allow for greater aerodynamics. The typical Starwing torso is quite narrow, with limbs that are typically quite spindly, though more muscular individuals are not uncommon. Tribe structure: Starwings completely lack any sort of monarchical structure, tending to stick with large familial clans, with the eldest female dragon serving as clan matriarch. young male Starwings, once reaching the age of maturity, tend to split off from their hatching clan in order to find a mate in another clan, typically joining the clan of their mate. Clans tend to number at about 150 individuals, if they get much larger, a chunk of 25 or so Starwings will split off to form their own new clan, likewise, clans that have become quite small can merge together with other smaller clans in order to form a larger, more stable clan. Starwings tend to remain cruising at high altitude for days at a time, only going to the surface to eat and drink briefly before riding the thermals back to higher altitude. the major exception is for the laying of eggs and the hatching and raising of dragonettes. Starwing clans raise their dragonettes in ancient stone keeps that were hollowed out for this purpose. these keeps are intermittently populated, going years or decades without use, only to suddenly be filled with over 100 dragons. A clan will inhabit a keep for 3-4 years until the dragonettes are all hatched and can do high altitude flight. once they are able, the clan departs the keep for the upper stratosphere, leaving empty and uninhabited once again. History: The Starwings became their own separate tribe from the Nightwings thousands of years ago. In the history of the Starwings, there has been only one Animus, that Animus was also the single greatest clan matriarch in their history. The great mother Antares served to carve out and lay claim to many of the rearing keeps used even today by the Starwings. She also created three animus enchanted greathelms for her three daughters. For her daughter Canis, the strongest of will, she crafted a spearhelm with a great blade. one that could project a burning white energy that causes the target to explode violently, this became known as Canis Wrath. For Subaru, the strongest of mind, she crafted a helm with a hollow tube, the tube uses animus magic to forcefully launch bronze darts that seek out the brains of the target, this became known as Subarus Judgement. For Scuti, the strongest of heart, and of body, she crafted a mighty helmblade that makes itself and its wearer utterly indestructible, able to cleave mountains in half when used from a high enough altitude, this helm became known by others as Scutis Guillotine, but was known as The Big Hammer by Scuti herself. This Helm was lost when 4 clans of Starwings were mistaken for Nightwings by Icewings during the war for Prince Arctic. This helm remained in the possession, but unable to be used, of the Icewings until late into the Sandwing war of succession. (for more info, see "Night of a million comets.") Starwing Combat tactics: Starwings utilize long bronze spike on helmets that stick out forward from their snout. they then proceed to drop down onto their targets from tens of thousands of feet above, where even the slightest flex of a talon can adjust their course by hundreds of feet. The idea is to kill their opponent with a single hit, possibly hitting them so hard they explode.
An incomplete Starwings gif featuring the protagonist’s little brother. Not my best animation but I’m still practicing
More ocs March Day 21- Nixiel
I've drawn him before and I'm drawing him again, our star child of the startribe: Nixiel!
TBH, I cant believe I have never posted this one. A quick sketch of my oc’s, Kivir (the flamey wolf), and Jayden, my darling archangel. 1-2 hours on my Cintiqu. I like drawing star wings. And pretty colors. And magical scenes.

OCtober day 25- Nixiel
Nixiel is part of a race of winged humans, split into 5 different tribes. Until the truce, they were all at war with each other for land, food, and other resources. Nixiel is part of the startribe, who was chased out and their land was taken over. Eventually, everyone forgot they existed. Since the truce happened, multiple, all-tribe school have been opened, so that the new generation can learn to be around each other. The startribe has sent in some undercover students, disguised as Firetribes, or Earthtribes, so they can see if it's safe for them to rejoin the other tribes.
Each tribe has different features. For the Startribe, they have extremely dark blue, or black wings with light speckles. They have glow in the dark marks on them, which of course glow in the dark. They're smaller than the other tribes, and weaker, but are good with stealth and agility.
This is one of my OC's, Nixiel. He's from a 'world' I've made up, which takes a lot to explain, but I'll try. Basically, there are four tribes (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) of winged people who have been at war for the past few centuries and finally after a decade long stalemate, they've made peace. A school has opened in hopes to get the youth of all the tribes to cooperate and get along. There is a fifth tribe (Star) that had ran away to avoid the fighting as they were the weakest and we're loosing the battle. To see if it's safe to rejoin the tribes again, they've sent some students to the school, Nixiel being one of them. The students try to blend in as best as possible.
Within an ancient rearing keep of the Starwings, and old male dragon convenes with an even older female.
"It is done, mother." The voice of the younger Starwing had a tone of someone who had finished a chore, not a massacre brought on by a millenia old blood feud. "Scutis Guillotine has been reclaimed, and more Icewings were killed than Starwings." Scorpii, the elder clan matriarch rose from her makeshift seat, her movements slow as to accommodate her aged form. "Very good my son." There was an odd glee to the voice of the old dragon.
She approached the axe-bladed greathelm with a mild bit of reverence. "There is good bit of history right here in our talons." Aldebaran listened, he had been told this story many times ever since he was a young dragonette, and had repeated the story to his daughter, and then his grandaughter years later. "Long ago, in the earliest years of the Starwings, and the ways we carried our traditions, Antares, the first of the great mothers brought forth three greathelms for her three mighty daughters. For Canis, the strongest of will, a mighty lance. for Subaru, the strongest in wisdom, a piercer of hearts, and for Scuti, the strongest of heart, and of body, a breaker of mountains."
Scorpii paused for a moment, trying to remember how the story went, as Aldebaran waited patiently, his mothers memory always came through, it just took a bit. "Ah, yes, and when an Icewing prince eloped with one of our 'cousins', this ignited a war. four of our clans were ambushed and killed, from the eldest matriarch, to the youngest dragonette, and with their cruel deaths, Scutis Guillotine was lost to the foul Icewings." A smile spread across the old dragons face. "But that is old history, my son, but today, you've claimed your place among it! in time, the name Aldebaran, and the clan name Scorpio will be spoken with the same awe and reverence as Subaru, Scuti, and Canis. You have done good, my son."
The two were quiet for but a moment, before Aldebaran broke the silence. "So, what becomes of Scutis Guillotine now? who's gonna carry this thing?" The son gestured towards the massive heavy animus forged helmet propped up against the cave wall. The matriarch let out laugh. "why you, of course, my son!" Aldebaran shot his mother a skeptical look. "really? me?"
The elder sat back down on her seat. "how does that old dragonette addage go? 'finders keepers'? in all seriousness, it was you who formulated the plan, it was you who lead the charge, and it was you who found it. if there is any rightful claim to it, it must be you. besides, on a more practical point, you're the only dragon in the clan who can wear that big blade, and still fly with a modicum of accuracy. wear it with pride my son. if not for yourself, then for clan Scorpio."
