I really like how the Love Goddess is making exactly the same demand of constant toil that Proteus does, she's just completely unaware of it

the FIRE types are a mixed bag but often correct, and really one of the things I think they do objectively better than most like, pop financial advice, is that the first thing they tell you is to do work that makes more money rather than less money. Low bar to clear!

I don't think authenticity, as in fidelity to your true self, is an absolute virtue. Identity is constructed as well as lived. You can change the kind of person you are in the same way that you can change a habit. It is not easy, but it is possible.
