My Top 5 for this year's Himig Handog Ppop Love Song 2016
1. Diamante (Jungee Marcelo x Morissette Amon tandem) 2. Dalawang Letra (Davey Langit x Itchyworms tandem) 3. Monumento (Jungee Marcelo x Kyla and Kris Lawrence tandem) 4. Laban pa (David Dimaguila x KZ Tandingan featuring Jay-R tandem) 5. Nyebe (Aries Sales x Kaye Cal tandem)
MY OPINION: 1. Diamante is well-composed and musically promising. This could be one of the theme songs of the upcoming DARNA though I heard ‘Up Dharma Down’ will be singing its theme song. Great tandem for Sir Jungee-Mowie. No whistle and intentional vocal break this time for Morissette, but nonetheless, STILL a powerful voice.
2. Dalawang Letra. A witty song, nice concept of the song. OPM is alive and restored sa kantang ‘to! Kung sa movie, may kakaibang plot sa dulo. Rhyming makes the song so catchy. Hugot Song of the year!
3. Monumento. Another Sir Jungee’s masterpiece. Very ‘Thyro and Yumi’ yung vibe ng kanta pero fresh concept. Very cathy nung kanta at ang ganda ng beat. Powerful voice of Kyla and Kris. (Sana kantahin ‘to ng JADINE)
4. Laban pa is like the second part of HALIK SA HANGIN. Very serious song, unique at ang bigat ng lyrics. The most meaningful entry among the finalists.
5. Nyebe is inspired by one bible verse, Isaiah 1:18.( Come now, let's settle this," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as SNOW) Pwedeng i-hilera sa Pinoy rock ballads like Hale, Spongecola, Callalily etc. songs. Very soul.
