tbh i love starpollo most not in their moments of intimacy but in how they naturally draw close after surviving something together, or in the sharp edge of their disagreements. neither kara nor lee can quite make sense of what the other means to them, so they move like celestial bodies, at times crossing paths, at times pulling away, as if getting too close might itself be a kind of danger. it’s only when they are arguing over something, or struggling side by side toward a mutual goal, that their feelings for each other find something solid to rest upon and solidify. they simply trust and rely on one another wholeheartedly, as if this is exactly what they were made for.

if I had a nickel for every time I had an obsession with a ship that was a spitfire-y pilot with a lot of natural talent, loves flying just for the hell of it, recently lost someone very close to them and had a rough childhood x another pilot who is more cautious and calculated, and simultaneously resents the other for their recklessness and also admires it and eventually comes out above the other in ranks but still aren't quite as good of a pilot when it comes to raw talent...
