Really, it was a simple question.  Nothing about it was difficult or hard in the least.  It wasn’t even that much of a request.  He has asked more from others before with no problem.  

Hell, Yuri was often at the end of the stick of the huge burden ridden questions. Something he still felt incredibly guilty about though Yuri always seemed to laugh it off and told him how he was over thinking it. 

It was so simple, so why was it so hard? 

Flynn paced around his office.  He actually had time for a break with all work from this morning completed.  Work has been slow for the past little while, the efforts he and Lord Ioder have been making has finally started to pay off as they were slowly seeing improvements in the way of life around not only Zaphias, but for the empire as a whole. 

Usually it was hard to pry Flynn away from his work space, but with less work to do with this apparent down time, Flynn pretty much had no excuse to not take some more (what plenty of others told him) well deserved breaks. 

Lady Estellise might you join me for a walk this afternoon? 

No, that didn’t sound right. 

Lady Estellise, would you consider giving me your companionship today? 

That was even more awkward. 

Lady Estellise, I would be humbled if you would grace me with your presence this afternoon.

That was no good either. In fact Estellise would probably lecture him for phrasing it like that. 

Lady Estellise, I have some free time so I was wondering if you would like to take a walk with me around the capital. 

That wasn’t any good either. 

If Yuri was here, he would surely be making fun of Flynn by now for this.  

But it’s not his fault that he was so awkward around people he liked in a romantic matter.  Something Yuri had to drag out of him and forced him to realize his own feelings since he probably would have never noticed on his own otherwise.  

Flynn wasn’t like Yuri.  He couldn’t just walk up to a person and ask them out or tell them he found them beautiful as a way to flirt.  Heavens, Flynn didn’t even know the first thing about flirting, though Judith has mentioned to him how devilish he truly was playing with many a girls hearts and didn’t even have to try considering how he normally was. 

Yuri was direct.  

Flynn was indirect and rather awkward.  

Even if Yuri would be making fun of him right about now, he kind of wished he was here because he was sure his best friend would be able to offer him some sound advice to kick him into shape.  

But perhaps this was just a wake up call for Flynn for how he shouldn’t rely on his best friend so much.  He needed to do things for himself, and couldn’t always try turning to Yuri when things got a little tough. 

Though a little advice would be helpful. 

But until then... 

Lady Estellise would you care to go for a walk with me?
