who places mistletoes all around the house?Actually no, this one would be Hodge. Imagine the scene, a sparring match between starcrossed lovers. A conveniently placed piece of mistletoe, heavy breathing, sweaty bodies - you get the picture.

who wraps the presents for other people?Evie cannot wrap for shit so ima go with Hodge, or they just buy little gift bags and put gifts straight in there.

who puts the final star/angel on the top of the christmas tree?Hodge picks Evie up and she puts it on there.

who starts putting up decorations in october?Harry’s flat is lowkey dingy af and he has never really had a happy memory of Christmas so this would be Evie in an attempt to cheer him up.

who buys the advent calendars?Harry, he’d buy extravagant and expensive ones purely to try and impress her even though Evie would be happy with cheap af ones.

who places mistletoes all around the house?Evie, she’d put them above the door to his building, all down the hallway and through his apartment and they’d makeout from the lift all the way to the bedroom tbh.

who starts putting up decorations in october?oh gosh Keira is such a soft princess, shes got the decorations as soon as is even somewhat acceptable.

who buys the advent calendars?Again, Keira. She’d buy them matching ones, and each morning she will facetime Evie and make sure they eat them together.

who places mistletoes all around the house?KEIRA. MY SOFT WEREWOLF BABE IS SO ROMANTIC OK UGH.

who wraps the presents for other people?Keira agian, she is an expert. She knows how to make ribbons do the ribbony thing and is the kind of person that has all the ‘trimmings’ when it comes to wrapping gifts. 

who puts the final star/angel on the top of the christmas tree?I lowkey think they do this together, each one either side of the tree, climbing up on some sort of furniture. They have a countdown and then both holding the star put it on the top. 

who’s the one that hates eggnog?Evie hates it, Keira loves it, Evie thinks that’s cute.

who’s the one that bakes christmas cookies for guests?Keira and her mom bake them for Evie when she comes round.

who sends out the christmas cards?Keira makes personalised ones. I’m not saying she is going to ask Evie to take a holiday photo for a card...but she definitely is.

who knows all the words to twelve days of christmas?They both do, these two sing carols constantly in December. 

who’s the better snowman builder?Evie, she’s stronger and just generally more of a perfectionist when it comes to snowman assembly. 

who starts snowball fights?Again, Evie. That shadowhunter hand eye coordination really comes in handy.

Against her better judgement, and against the advice of Alec, Evie had made the trip to the City of Bones to see Hodge in the place where he was imprisoned. Where he would most likely spend the rest of his life. The Silent Brothers had offered him one request - within reason - and this had been it, to see Evangeline Calloway one last time, so that he could try and explain to her the reasons he had done what he had, so that he could ask for forgiveness. 

She stood now, one foot resting against the wall, her arms folded across her chest defensively as she watched Hodge through narrowed eyes. He held tightly onto the bars that separated the once lovers, his own eyes searching hers, desperately, pleading. He’d done his talking, his feeble explanations and apologies for betraying the girl he claimed to have loved. Evie had listened, all the while watching him with a stony faced silence - she didn’t forgive him, she probably never would. 

“Goodbye Hodge.” She said finally, after a long pause in Hodge’s streams of apologies. 

“Just stay a little longer. Please.” He begged, tightening his grip on the bars and pressing his body against them, a desperate attempt to be closer to her - to make her understand how sorry he was. “Evangeline, if you leave now you may never see me again. I’ll surely die down here.” 

A lump rose in Evie’s throat as she pushed up from the wall and turned away from him towards Brother Isiah who was to escort her out of the City. “I’m counting on it.” She said bitterly before leaving. 

“Evie!” Hodge called after her, though his attempts were in vain. She didn’t look back, not once. 

Evie threw a punch, landing it square in Hodge’s face. She couldn’t help but feel somewhat satisfied as she felt his nose break beneath her knuckles and she smirked when his hands flew up to his face in a desperate attempt to stem the blood flow.

“Evangeline please.” Hodge spluttered through the blood. “I don’t want to hurt you...” 

Hurt you. Evie thought and if she hadn’t been so angry, and so devastated, then she might have actually laughed in his face. Hodge had already hurt her, in ways that no one ever had before, but if he thought for a second he would get so much as a chance to hurt her in a fight, he had another thing coming. “It’s Evie.” She corrected him, her voice cold and emotionless. Only people she cared about were allowed to address her by her full name, and Hodge had revoked that right the moment he’d betrayed her. 

“I never meant for it to be this way.” He continued, as the pair circled around one another, neither one wanting to get too close to the other for fear of what they might do if they did. “But can’t you see that I did this for us? For you and I?” 

Evie did laugh then, and rolled her eyes for good measure. “Oh please, you were only thinking about yourself.” 

“Evie, I’m free now. I’m free of the institute, we can be together, run away together.” 

She shook her head. “You’re insane, you know that?” 

“It was real.” He stopped, and stood up a little straighter. “What I said to you that day, when I told you I hoped we had a future together. It was all real.”

How do they become proper friends, not the I have to be around you type?

So this would come about, mostly through making fun of/teaming up against Alec. Within the institute, Alec is Evie’s very best friend and she is closer to him than she is anyone else. Now, Evie loves Alec more than anyone and he knows that, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t tease him incessantly. I think her and Hodge find that they bounce well off each other when it comes to winding Alec up and they both enjoy one anothers sense of humour. So thats how they become friends. 

How do they become lovers?

This is very much a case of two people who are both physically attractive spending a lot of time together, in very close proximity of one another. I think the first sort of ~moment~ between the two of them would be during a sparring match they are having. One that is pretty evenly matched and which ends with Evie pinning Hodge to the floor. I will leave the rest to your imagination but personally I am imagining heavy breathing, close faces and chemistry.

Which realises that they love the other first?

Evie is very much accepting of her feelings for other people, she is quite an emotional person and whilst she doesn’t show it very often, she knows it in herself. I think she would realise she loves Hodge a long time before she admits it, and before he realises he feels the same way.

Who says it first?

I think every day it is implied, but its gonna be said by Hodge first during a pretty fun scene.

What would their plans for the future be?

They have a plan to tell everyone about their relationship, for Evie to take over the day to day running of the Institute and for Hodge to be by her side whilst she does it. They might go to Idris for a while first, and they’d probably get married in Beijing at the Institute there so all Evie’s family could be present.
