*Steve noticing TWO Tony’s starting to make out on the dash*

                  eliot listened. he figured people didn’t do that very often for tony. his lips twitched downward. his jaw clenched just a little and he moved to let his hand settle on tony’s shoulder. “hey. c’mon.” he gestured for tony to get up. he had a few ideas. tony wasn’t fine. eliot didn’t think he usually was. he got that. maybe it was a different kind of not fine, but he got it.                    “i’m gonna cook you a proper meal. you’re gonna talk t’ me. or you’re not. you’re gonna eat. then we’re gonna take a little bit’a time t’-- - well. you’ll see.” eliot had designs. of course he wasn’t stupid enough to think that what worked for him would have to work for tony. he just felt like maybe sharing would help a little. and maybe he could help tony find what helped him when he was decidedly more not fine than usual. “and you’re gonna change your shirt.”

            it was a very carefully hatched plan that had taken months to set up. he was tired. el-1071 was off-ship. they were to flex for the empire, bring in assets, and show the power behind vader’s saber. it wasn’t just pretty lights. that’s what he’d come to understand. the plan was simple enough. peel off from his group (which would be the hard part. he’d recently been promoted. commander. that was something), and double back to meet up with tony. who was supposed to be creating some kind of distraction. and maybe he’d be helping with that. either way, tony was supposed to have a ship. and they could leave as soon as they were clear. he didn’t know where he wanted to go, just... away. it wasn’t going to be easy either, they’d been keeping an eye on him and his men. maybe they had something to prove. all the same, el-1071 delegated. two of the ten to move towards the east end of the city, two more to the west. two to double back the way they came, sweep, check for threats. two were to peel off towards the center of the city. which left him with two to get away from. easy enough.                 it helped that the city wasn’t sleeping. it made disappearing in crowds much easier. that was probably why he was appointed commander in the first place. he was good at what he did. and for a very long time, he liked it. made him damn good at his job. it took him exactly three minutes to lose his team. three. el-1071 thought it should have taken longer. if he was planning on sticking around he’d have words with them about that. but he wasn’t. as far as he was concerned, he’d be off world before the first sundown.                 tony wasn’t immediately at the meet up when el-1071 got there. a dark, near abandoned home on the outskirts of the city. dusty. dingy. empty save for a crate. first order of business. strip. he couldn’t really escape if he was dressed like he was. a soldier of the empire. he’d found some clothes in the corner. they had holes and were a size too small, but he took them because they were what he needed at this point. he was glad he’d started to grow his hair before all of this. it wasn’t regulation length. he didn’t look like a soldier like this. well. he did. but he didn’t look like one of theirs. he sat himself down, legs crossed, hands on his knees, and waited.
