hey, so my sun conure was just scratched by my cat who was able to get in without me knowing. she scratched the left wing only, and its bleeding a bit. im really scared because i dont know how to treat it, and my parents probably wont let me take her to the vet until it's too late. im going to do my best to convince them to take her today, but until then how should i treat the scratches?
You should not treat it yourself, period. A scratch from a catch will cause sepsis in birds and may kill her by the time symptoms start showing up. Your cat has a ton of gram-negative bacteria in her claws, your bird needs to see a vet to get treated before this progresses in to something worse. Until you can get her the treatment she needs, rinse out the wound and apply pressure to stop the bleeding, if necessary bandage it with vet wrap (nothing adhesive, don’t restrict the chest).
