*The faux polite mask Eleven had been hiding her emotions beneath shatters completely. She stares into Sky's eyes, searching for a sign that this is some cruel joke. She finds nothing.*

What do you actually want from me. I wasn't at Tracen then. I was at [common confession tree]. I- I literally have the text from Vessel!

Shirokun opens the door without any real care for permissions, standing awkwardly in the doorway like a toddler.

They don't look much like Vessel. They're taller, visibly more disheveled, slightly more grayish hair, and they have green-blue eyes. And they carry the scent of cigarette smoke with them.

..morning. I couldn't text, but the visiting hours are open. My car is somewhat near the dorms.

The glance at the pink ribbon fastened at Eleven's tail, but they don't say anything.

'M pretty sure that the Academy wouldn't mind if you miss a little training, would they?

*Eleven stared at the Vessel sound-alike with wide, empty eyes. She looked like shit. Yesterday's makeup was smudged and tracked across her face, her hair a mess. She was wearing some shitty, hole-littered tee that she didn’t remember owning with an equally abused pair of pants. The pink ribbon tied around her tail was still there, the bow now halfway undone and uneven. She barely looked like she even went to Tracen, let alone looking like a racer.*

They wouldn’t even notice that I left.

*Her voice was uncharacteristically quiet, like someone had sucked the vibrance from her. She wasn’t convinced that it was a partial lie. Even if logically, she should know that her trainer will end up calling her to ask where she is. She followed Shirokun, eyes locked on the floor.*

Or for the next week, actually.

I, er. May or may not be able to even walk normally or train for the next week too.

What. Happened. Care to explain why you look like the aftermath of a fucking paper shredder? Or why you seem to be on the verge of tears just standing right now? It’s been maybe three hours since I last saw you, and most umas are training right about now. And don’t even try to say that you fell or that you were “just training”. I’m not stupid, White Vessel.

*Eleven went red, mismatched eyes going wide. Her ears twitched, like she couldn’t believe what she had just heard. She blinked, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water as she processed what her rival (although it doesn’t feel right to call them that. It never had) had offered her. She didn’t remember stepping closer, or taking the devotee’s hand in her own. She could barely think over the rampant sound of her heart thudding against her chest.*

Yes!- holy fuck- I mean- ….hi. Yes. I’d like to go with you. Text me the address. Wear something nice. Don’t be late. I’ll be counting on you. Don’t keep me waiting, okay?

*When had she gotten so good at that? Was she always good at that? Vessel’s hands were soft. Had she been holding them for too long? Her mind raced as she stared into those seemingly endless blue eyes. Like irises built directly from the space between stars. She wouldn’t mind getting sucked into there. She wouldn’t mind melting into the white-haired uma. She wanted to intertwine with her so deeply that their cells merged. Was this what she had been hiding from herself? She couldn’t name one good reason why she’d denied herself such a feeling.*
