((Hi yes, this is a time where I post something. More to come? Who knows? Maybe, possibly, for sure. However if you didn’t know there is a very well made story called Star Chunks, if you like these two then you may like the story as well! This was definitely inspired by/from the story~ Star Chunks is made by Psi and Vex aka @nyaagolor))
OHWAIT THE NEW CHAPTER OF STAR CHUNKS IS OUT?!
OHGODIMNOTEMOTIONALLYPREPARED
Oh. XD
I think...
Pomegranates I think are the answer to all of my "forbidden fruit" cravings. They're like the irl and safely edible version of star chunks, and taste exactly how I wish laundry pods and mini guest soaps would.
I mean, Hades might decide to whisk me off to the underworld for eternity, but I'm 100% down with that. He seems like a chill guy.

Here’s the full-size of his Ancient design
YOURE THE AUTHOR OF STAR CHUNKS? I love it so much. yes.
HIIII YES THAT'S US!!!! I hope you know that the mods love this meme and use it as a shorthand. I'm really glad you like the fic, thank you so much for the kind words!! <3
It's been a hot minute since we worked on it because I (vex) am applying to med school and just finished writing a thesis, but we'll get back to it... eventually
I have been thinking about Star Chunks a lot because RTDL DX came out and figured I would type out some of my thoughts. Some director's commentary if you will. It's below the cut because I'm not a monster and don't wanna clog people's dashes THAT badly
I think one of the biggest things about Star Chunks to me is like. It is not, has not been, and will never be a story about redemption. Marx and Magolor are not redeemed in any sort of traditional sense because they don’t really have a reason to want it. Being forgiven by Kirby and getting on some objective measure of “good” by any universal (or widely accepted) morality standards isn’t something that aligns with their goals or motives or morals, and so they don’t do it. They don’t want it, they aren’t going to try and achieve it, and so they don’t. They enter the story bad people (or morally grey, your mileage may vary) and they leave it bad people. And what I really wanted to highlight while writing it was their personal growth, and how they change as people for and through the other, even without a transition from bad to good. Star Chunks is really just a story about two little guys so wretched that learning to respect and appreciate each other is a massive step forward for them. Marx and Magolor do not learn to be selfless, they just stop being completely selfish. They don’t become good for goodness’ sake, and never really develop any appreciation for an abstract concept of morality. They’re terrible people who come to learn to care for and appreciate things outside of themselves and their own selfish desires, but that scope is so narrow that it basically only encompasses a single other person. They don’t care about Kirby, they don’t apologize, and they don’t begin to make up for the hurt they caused and they never will. They’re still, ultimately, the bad guys, and never redeemed because quite frankly I don’t think they want to be. Growth is non-linear, sure, but it's also not necessarily a good thing either and that's the essence I wanted to capture Honestly, when it boils down to it, I think the crux of this story is that it's extremely small in scope. It’s about little changes, little steps forward, and things that really only have big impacts for one, maybe two people. The little changes that change everything. What feels like an absolutely monumental occasion for Magolor and Marx is so insignificant to everyone else it doesn’t matter. It’s the intimacy of that type of change that really drives Star Chunks, and the vibe I wanted to capture while writing. In short? I love my terrible little guys. Rapscallions of the highest caliber. From beginning to end they're kind of the worst, but now they're worse in a different way than they were before. And maybe, just maybe, that terrible little heart of theirs has room for just one more-- smaller hearts are more cozy anyway :)
