Yes, I know I am, like, a whole week behind, but because it’s getting closer to the end of the school year, I have been bombarded with tests and finals. This week I’m gonna need to start and essay and take a final for an AP class. URRGHHH I’m so not excited for this week, but at least summer is only about a month away. Anyways, for today’s prompt, the word stagnate/stagnant really stuck with me because I kinda feel like that now. Being stuck at home and feeling like I’m living the same day over and over again. I just want to be freeeeeee. I also have art block, like, 24/7 now, and with that, I either have no inspiration, motivation, or everything I make just looks wrong. So maaybbeeee, you guys could help spread inspiration by either commenting or asking something random you want me to draw! Whether it’s a cat eating pizza or a rose. Literally anything. (Just make sure to look at my art request guidelines before asking please).
Also, since I did this in a hurry, you guys might notice the lineart is a little bad; that’s because it’s literally the original sketch. I just erased the surrounding scribbles to try to make it look decent.

This character is a combination of 氵 water and 帶/帯 belt. 帯 is a phonetic element signaling the on’yomi, but is also lending its own connotation of “contain/restrict,” and here carries a meaning of “stop.” With 氵 this gives “a flow of water stopped and unmoving.” It has come to mean “stop/stagnate” in a general sense.
For this “stagnate” prompt we went with a waterbender halting the waves 🤗🌊✨
