Betonica x 'Summer Crush' / 'Summer Crush' Hybrid Betony at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens at Duke University in Durham, NC
#3755 - Stachys sylvatica - Hedge Woundwort
AKA whitespot or sometimes as hedge nettle.
Originally native to Europe to western Asia, but introduced to New York state, Ontario, and New Zealand. It grows best in dappled shade at the edge of woodland, in hedgerows, and in unmanaged grassland.
Like Field woundwort and Marsh woundwort (S. arvensis and S. palustris), used for wound healing, and regarded as quite effective. Whether that's actually true is another question entirely.
