I really like Malachite's skin design, but obviously the actual dynamic of the fusion isn't exactly great.

So in Steven Universe, it’s pretty clear that Malachite, a fusion of Lapis and Jasper is unstable. But in Chille Tid we saw that they can fall into synchronization (Malachite rising and yelling “go”). It’s actually possible that Malachite could stabilize for a few reasons. I’ll save the most convincing for last.

Reason 1: To Destroy The Fanbase. What better way to destroy the fanbase than to take two characters with a fair amount of fans and make them question them? I mean, it’s like Rose trying to make Pearl and Greg jealous. This show does try to destroy us.

Reason 2: The New Outro. The new outro “Nothing Like You” is another part of this. If put after “Love Like You” and the faded version of “Love Like You” it just seems to fit. The tune of “Love Like You” was played in Ocean Gem and with the alternate name of “Love Like You (The Ocean Returns)”. Ocean, Lapis, common sense. If Lapis is applied to “Nothing Like You” it also fits.

“I always thought, I might be bad,” This could be another side of Lapis where she questions her actions. This includes trying to drown Steven even though he ended up helping her.

“Now I'm sure that it's true,” She’s with Jasper. The fusion has taken over and their anger has won.

“'cause I think you're so good,” Lapis looks up to Steven and he even tries to free her after everything. He even enters the fusionscape to try to help her.

“And I'm nothing like you.” Lapis realizing that she is different than Steven. If you look t her character you can find some mental instability and trust issues. This is the biggest difference between the two.

Reason 3: Lapis and Jasper “Losing Themselves”. I believe it was Pearl who said that Sugilite was losing herselves. What happens if Lapis and Jasper lose themselves and get overcome by Malachite? Eventually both will have to tire out. Malachite would then most likely follow out Jasper’s original plan.

Reason 4: Jasper Holding Lapis in Full Intro. In the full version of “We are the Crystal Gems”, Jasper is clearly holding onto Lapis almost as if Jasper is keeping Lapis prisoner instead of the other way around. This could represent Jasper’s plan rising to the surface and attempting to destroy Steven.

Reason 5: What Lapis and Jasper Have In Common. Yes. Lapis and Jasper have one thing in common. They can never return to Homeworld. Lapis because she is believed to be traitor and was imprisoned in the ship indicating she was already in trouble. Jasper because she was defeated by a weaker gem. Yellow Diamond would have no use for a weak gem. Both actually blame the Crystal Gems. Jasper for obvious reasons and Lapis because they kept her prisoner. With this common anger, there would be little to stop them except for Steven.
