Character Moodboard: Joan Myerscough, St Elvington's Academy

Sometimes in life it feels as if time must surely stop. For how could life continue when its heart has turned stone cold? And how could the world keep turning when so much of it has been destroyed?

Born to the wealthy Myerscough family, Joan is a student in the final year of St Elvington's Academy. When the strange new girl is outcast by much of their year, she and Joan strike up an unlikely friendship, a warm bond in their cold stone walls. But Alexis Aneirin isn't Joan's only concern in the Academy - her dear brother and confidant Priest Myerscough has become obsessed with a dark presense residing amongst them. As the newcomer's intentions and her brother's mind fall deeper into darkness, Joan finds herself suspended in a spider's web between the weak, fading light and the endless, endless Unfocussed.

It's not very fleshed out yet, but you can find a few cool things about my first story and hopefully about my second story as I work on it!

What's my WIP, you ask?

Well, I'm glad you asked! It's a trilogy of long-ish short stories which fall somewhere within mystery and supernatural and postmodernist writing.

They all focus on the life of the Author, told through stories about different places that don't exist.

Ever been in a supermarket alone at night? Or maybe a children's play park after dark? Or a rest stop on a busy road? Notice how they seem slightly detached from reality?

Well, that's the kind of places I mean. I called them Unfocussed points, and they're a pretty big deal for the Author.

Sound interesting? Sound terrible? Awesome! The WIP page currently has an extract from the first story and a couple of characters (because we all love a good character moodboard) and if you have ANY questions then please feel free to ask!
