The interior of a (decommissioned, of course) Soviet missile silo in the Ukraine. This silo fired SS-24 "Scalpel" missiles, a design made close to the fall of the Soviet Union. Having visited an American missile silo, I can tell you that the designs are very different. This silo made use of a pair of vertical tubes mounted on gigantic hydraulic pistons, with connecting hardware and additional structures around them. An interesting fact that Source shared with me is that the tube containing crew and launch control hardware was coated in ice during normal operation, apparently to facilitate cooling. Also of note is the relatively tiny silo door, in comparison with the titanic one used on Titan missile silos. The diameter of this Soviet silo is also much less than that of those used for the Titan.
See those two black and yellow buttons on the console in the last picture? The gray button directly underneath those, covered by a panel, is the launch button. So unassuming for such an incredibly dangerous system.
