I have been very absent for a very long time. Nearly a month! I apologize for this, but my life has been incredibly busy. Between 101 Week, balancing six classes, having obtained a position on my student association’s executive, and now about to start working at LPC again - I don’t know where September went.

This occurrence happens all too often. It's this glossy-eyed look that befalls many Brazilians because they are able to teach the ignorant estrangeiro something new. Registering this kind of complaint may seem a bit presumptuous, but I only do so because it has happened to me countless times and it's getting kind of old.

This is a bitchy post, but such is life. I know that whenever people are offering up knowledge, it's coming from a good place; they are trying to teach the gringo something about their country, which I respect. I just don't really appreciate the constant patronizing tone that accompanies these cultural lessons. And it's not that they think it might be my 1st day in the country.   

I just wish that during these convos, both of the participants (the gringo + the brasileiro) could have equal footing, because often I know things about Brasil that honestly a lot of Brazilians don't. Not trying to be an elitist shit, but Oregano boy has never really ventured out of this city (which I know he could have), and I've visited a couple different parts of the country. Am not trying to position myself as a Brasileiro-expert, just that I have some knowledge também.
