Calgary drug site still a horror show
Verdict. Failure in the first degree.
Yes, even with a much-appreciated full-court press from city cops, the drug site in Calgary’s Beltline is still a royal pain in the butt for the surrounding neighbourhood. With the equivalent of one sergeant and ten constables around the Sheldon Chumir drug site the mess is still a mess.
And now we have more ugly arithmetic from the Calgary police to show us the circus has nowhere near left town.
One thing is clear.
The number of addicts using at the Chumir has gone up, up, up and the number of calls for service generated by the police and the public are going up, up, up.
An important nugget. For every two new drug-users at the Chumir there’s one more call for service.
