Just wondering, what do people at the coliseum who aren't close to hels / know a lot about them, think about tanguish. Are there any rumours about why hels now has this guy following him to work ect, especially with a nickname like squire - 🐿️ (also good luck with your new car, I always find it weird getting used to a different one, especially the clutch bite)
Thank you for the luck! There's definitely a learning curve going on. But I took it for my first long drive out of town this weekend and I think I'm getting the hang of it!
And, that's a great question! I'm sure there's a decent amount of people who are mostly unconcerned / unbothered. People come and go in hels all the time. Maybe this new shade is a fixture, or maybe he's temporary. Who cares?
I'm sure there are people who assume he is a squire or apprentice, someone Helsknight is training to join the Colosseum circuit. He can't train a replacement Champion -- you have to win that spot fair and square. But I imagine a lot of people have asked Helsknight to teach them, and while he's never taken anyone on, a lot can change when you're worried about legacy. And haven't rumors been flying around that the Champion isn't doing well? So, it would make sense he wants to have a protoge. The looming of the Universe changes a person.
And then there are others who probably assume Tanguish is a friend or partner, someone of importance who is now shadowing him because they like to spend time together. The cells aren't really conducive to building a family, or moving people in with you, but Tanguish is small and doesn't take up a lot of space, and generally makes himself very useful. Maybe Helsknight it taking comfort in having someone close around? The Champion already spends his nights elsewhere sometimes -- he has long since given up living solely in his cell. Maybe that's where he's been?
Though, knowing Martyn and how he likes to manipulate information, most people assume Tanguish is a helpful little squire and errand runner. It benefits Martyn to have someone else like him in the Colosseum. People will assume his questions and collecting of information are more benign, if there is a somewhat naive and fresh-faced helper wandering around. So I imagine most people have heard, some way or another, that Tanguish is a harmless shadow, doing his best to help the Champion with his day to day, much like Martyn helps Red. And sure, Martyn is unpleasant sometimes, but he's friends with the new little shadow, and together they seem small and innocent enough. At the very least, they don't seem to be scheming anything... Yet.
