áśť đ đ° .á SQUID GAME | the 'recruiter' x reader !
! , when the reader is just a random small waitress, meets a man with a suit and a stack of cash accompanied by.. ddakji in his brief case?
Life fucking sucks.
That's one thing that life teaches you, and you've learnt that you've had nothing good happen so far in your life other than the fact that you got yourself a job, even if for a small amount, a car to sleep in and food to eat because you've got nothing else.
"Was I a shitty communist in my previous life?" you muttered to yourself, wiping the table with a cloth as you occasionally mutter small remarks regarding a customer or you, in general. Cleaning up the table from spilled alcohol from a drunkard for what felt like the 7th time, you were starting to think every thing thrown at you felt like karma for whatever bad you did before.
A single ding could be heard from the rundown restaurant as you steadied yourself to greet the customer, smiling rather forcefully and turning your head over to meet whoever came in, your eyes was a rather tall man with a suit and a briefcase who offered you a small smile and a nod along your way.
well, there goes the rest of your luck for the week.
'whatever.' you thought to yourself before shaking your head and heading to the counter to throw the used rag on the previously messy table and making your way to the man. You prayed this man wasn't going to molest you or scam you, but with the way the man looks you doubt any man with a suit would do such thing, any person in general... hopefully.
"Good evening, what can I get for you?" You asked with a tilted head, watching as he taps a few times on the table before looking up at you. What's a man like him doing here, in this shitty place always conquered by assholes?
he looks kind, for the most part.
"Excuse me, can I get two glass of soju?" The man asks as he sets down the briefcase, a kind smile on his face. You sighed internally before nodding in his way, before making your way to the kitchen to prepare two glass of soju. Two glass, huh. probably meeting a client, but why here anyway?
Coming back to the man with two glasses of soju, you hoped he didn't complain before setting them down with a small 'enjoy' and a turn of a head before he called out for you.
"Kyung Y/N."
You probably shouldn't have stopped in your steps and looked back, you probably should've convinced yourself you were hearing things but you didn't. You turned your head around slowly and locked eyes with the man, your expression dropping, but before you could say anything he gestured to the seat in front of him and said , "Take a seat."
A mistake on your part, because you did sit. Taking a seat in front of the man, he took one glass of soju before subtly gesturing to the other cup for you to take it, hesitating to speak a little you shook your head and narrowed your eyes at him.
"Can I help you, sir?" You asked, a silent request from him as you watch him set down the cup and folding his hand on the table. tilting his head, he spoke, "A very unfortunate situation for a pretty lady, a pity." he cooed, and smacked his lips.Â
You tensed a little, gosh, guess your luck did run out. Before you could say anything, he raised a finger before he pulled his suitcase and opened it. Inside, you could see stacks of cash and .. ddakji?
"Would you like to play a game of ddakji with me, miss?"
"I am sorry?"
"Ddakji." he repeated before showing you the red and blue paper, gosh now you were starting to think this man was not okay at all. For whatever reason it was, no matter what you were gonna say you just keep getting interrupted. "For every round you win, you'll get 10,000 won. but if you lose.." he clears his throat before standing up, you standing up momentarily afterwards too.
"You'll pay with your body."
"absolutely no-"
"a slap, I mean." the man quickly corrected himself, adjusting his tie before he looks down at you. Holding out the blue paper, and a tilted head, you stared down at the paper. win a game of ddakji.. for 10,000 won? Is this where your luck finally comes into play?
Hesitating for a split minute, you sighed and picked up the paper. The man seemed delighted, with the way he whistled and nodded in approval.
well.
"ouch," a loud slap was heard after the 6th game. your cheeks is red after being harassed by this man, but hey? money is money, and you were gonna get there eventually.
"here we go," rubbing the red paper in your hands, you blew a wind to it before using all your force into throwing the paper and baam!
the paper flipped, and words couldn't express the joy you felt after seeing how it actually flipped to the other side, as if it was your only achievement in years. The man, idly standing, clapped before retrieving 100,000 won and handing the crisp bill right into your hands.
"thank you, sir." you thanked him and looked down at the bill, before looking up and realizing the man had disappeared, the cup of soju had been drank and sat empty, next to it was a card with three shapes.

2.1.2025 edit - Since people are reading this again, Iâll proof read and edit this soon. Likely also adding or deleting parts as well, since this was written in 2021.
15.1.2025 edit -Â Â Guys I lost the plot, the concept of time again and have been existing between space and time. BUT hereâs now the proofread and edited version, hope yall enjoy :)
âRemember me.â
After you and Sang-woo had eaten your last meals, two beds had been pushed out of the walls. Placed on the opposite ends of the room. Both of you, exhausted from everything, had walked up to one of the beds. The urge for rest constantly at the back of your mind, yet body still so alert for danger. It was just a tiny bit more comfier than the beds you had slept on before this. The staff members had left one knife for the both of you, but you didnât think Sang-woo of all people would try to hurt you. You had seen him push off that one man in the last game, but surely he wouldnât have done that if it had been you, or thatâs what you kept thinking to keep your mind calm.Â
The lights had gone out a little bit ago, but the small amount of light that was left made it possible to see the other bed. Sang-woo seemed like he was about to fall asleep while sitting, which was a good sign. It hopefully meant that he trusted you enough to feel comfortable falling asleep. Even though you trusted him, you kept the sharp knife near you, just in case. Sang-woo hadnât felt the same after Gi-Hun had died, as much as you had tried to deny that before.Â
Even before the game, the two of you had been together. Neither of you having told the other about the invite to the game. You were afraid heâd tell you not to go, so you just called the number, but little did you know that Sang-woo had gotten the same card. It was only when the both of you had woken up with the others that youâd realised. Sang-woo seemed to be internally angry that you had come here as well, but heâd never been directly mean to you before. That being the reason why you thought he hadnât scolded you for calling the number. And, would he have been any better? Heâd gotten himself stuck here as well. Instead, he helped you with the games the best he could, and you did the same to him. And by doing so, it had led to the two of you being the only two left.Â
You couldnât sleep with the thought of what the next game could be swirling in your head. Surely one of you had to die, so the other would get the money. You knew why Sang-woo needed it so desperately. So because of that and the love for him you felt, you thought it was only fair if you just let him win. Heâd helped you get so far, when he had never been obligated to. Nor had he attacked you now, even when given the chance. Instead, he seemed to trust you enough to rest for a moment. He had worked so hard to get to this point, it would only be right.Â
While all this thinking your eyes had begun to close. Slowly but surely you fell asleep, with the knife next to your hand. After what felt like a short moment, you started to wake up to a noise coming from near your bed. Startled, you sat up with the knife in your hand. As your eyes started to focus in the dark, you saw Sang-woo standing near your bed. Your breath hitched. Was he really there to take you out like this, like some animal?
Before you could say anything, the man leaned over. âI am sorry if I startled youâŚâ He sighed as he looked at you with tired eyes, the rest seemingly not having done anything. âI was only thinking, If this is the last game...We could spend the last night together?â Sang-woo suggested quietly. Your body started to slowly relax, and you put down the knife. âI-itâs okay. But..â You thought for a second. You had nothing to lose, he was the only thing you still had. Inside this very game, and outside. You wanted him to win anyway, so even if he killed you now, it wouldnât matter. âSure, come hereâŚâ You hummed as calmly as you could in this situation. Without another word he climbed under the blanket, next to you.Â
There was a moment of silence. Even though you liked the calmness, you had to ask him something. âSang-woo?â You said quietly, as you looked at your hands. He turned his gaze to you, and hummed out a soft âyesâ. âI assume you know that one of us will have to lose the next game?â You tried to start without going straight to the point. He tilted his head a little. âYes. I suppose that has to happen..â He replied, waiting for you to continue. âI want to let you win...We both canât leave this game alive.â You admitted and closed your eyes tightly. Sang-woo stayed silent for a little bit before he said anything. Soon you felt him turn you towards him by your shoulders. âAre you insane? I didnât come all this way to let you die. I did this because I want you to get the price.â He huffed with a tiny bit of anger in his voice. But the crease between his furrowed brows was leaking of worry and a form of panic. He was being honest, desperately so. You opened your eyes and looked straight at him. âI donât want the money if I canât be with you.â Was the only thing you could think of, focused on making your point clear. He had to survive the last game. âI wonât let you go through with this!â He furrowed his brows with anger and worry now more pronounced in his tone. Eyes searching something from you, as if attempting to find anything pointing to you not being serious. Catching nothing. You on the other hand didnât want to continue this conversation any further. You had made your decision. âIâm sorryâŚâ A sigh left your body as you leaned towards Sang-woo. The feeling of sorrow from this whole topic overpowering any reason and logic.
You knew you wouldn't be able to live without him outside the game. Even if you had all the money in the world, it wouldnât matter if you were alone. You would still miss the times heâd taken you out with him. And as the sun had gone down he would smoke a cigarette while you waited for a bus home. Passing you a drag on a good night. No amount of money would fill the hole in your heart.
You both still had some time to sleep, and you would gladly do that now that Sang-woo was next to you. Your head was against his chest, so you could hear his heartbeat. He hadnât said anything after your apology. But perhaps that was for the better. You hadnât wanted to hear his pleas of saving your life in the first place, only that he knew of what youâd decided.
This was most likely the last time you were both going to be like this, ever. The thought of that saddened you. Sang-woo was about to fall asleep with his head resting on top of yours, but he felt the stirring coming from you. He pushed you up by your shoulders so he was able to see your face.Â
There were small crystal clear tears falling down your cheeks. âI donât want to leave...â You cried out a desperate whisper to Sang-woo, as if there was anyone else to hear you anymore. His expression appeared pained. He was aware that one of you had to go, but he didnât want that either. âYou wonât have toâŚâ He closed his eyes with a sigh. Sang-woo started to caress your hair gently, an attempt to calm his nerves and an even more desperate try to help you. âI-..you should sleep a little..â He tried to change the subject that seemed to bring down both of your moods, keeping you awake. He wiped your tears away with his suit sleeve, brushing some of the stray strands of hair back. He wanted to say something, but couldnât find anything to add. Due to his cold persona, it was hard for him to comfort anyone, even if that someone was as dear as you.
You pressed your head back against his chest to hear his heartbeat again. It was such a calming sound at this moment. But the thought that this would be the last time you heard it, made you not want to fall asleep. Yearning to keep listening, if only for a moment longer. But even though your fight against the built up exhaustion, sleep took over your form and you fell asleep against Sang-woo. He was biting his lip to keep his emotions from boiling over. Now that you were asleep, he didnât dare to move at all. There was no time to cry now, he had to be there for you like he had promised from the start. Soon sleep took over him as well. Falling asleep with his right arm gently around you and his head resting on top of yours.Â
You both woke up to the guards and staff coming in. They took you to the last room that the 6th game would be held in. You noticed that it was the same room the first game had been held in, but this time there was a pattern on the ground. Before you could figure it out, the game was announced. The last game, the squid game. You were both given positions, you were the offense, Sang-woo the defence.
You took a step closer to Sang-woo before the game started. âI love you.â You said to him as your eyes looked at his for the last time. His eyes never left you as you started to walk to your spot. A wistful look in his eyes for that passing moment.Â
âRemember meâ
And so the game began. You both still had the knives with you, holding on to it for dear life. Every time you did something, it seemed like Sang-woo didnât want to stop you, he wanted you to win. He was supposed to be the defence, but he wasnât doing any of that. You knew that he had played this game as a kid, even more than you had. So he was aware of what he was doing, not making this any easier. There was no talking to him anymore, that chance had passed the previous night.Â
âThough I have to say goodbye, remember meâ
This wasnât going anywhere. The VIPâs were getting irritated at the two of you. This was meant to be the final game, the grand finale, but nothing was happening. You hadnât turned into mindless animals like theyâd hoped, there was something between the two of you blocking that from happening. They had put money, bets, in this game and nothing was happening. The host told the guards to do something about this before the guests got more irritated.Â
âDon't let it make you cry, for even if I'm far awayâ
The guard with the triangle on their mask pointed a pistol at you. You and Sang-woo stopped, not a hitch of breath making a single sound. You saw how Sang-woo had come to the painful realisation that he actually had to try and get you killed. You started to move to the other spot, feeling your hand tremble.Â
âI hold you in my heart. I sing a secret song to youâ
The game went on and you had gotten a few bruises. You both still had the knives in your hands, but neither of you wanted to do any serious damage. After a moment of thought you stopped completely and stared at Sang-woo, a lifeless expression behind the lively eyes heâd been used to. He tilted his head a little, but not enough for anyone but you to notice. So far, whatever fighting there may have been, had been a mere play put up for the audience watching.Â
âEach night we are apart. Remember me.â
You lifted the knife up to your neck, your eyes staying on Sang-woo. He soon realised what you were about to do and started to sprint towards your form. As he reached to take the knife out of your hand, he managed to kick your balance off, allowing you an opening to swing the knife.
âThough I have to travel far. Remember meâ
The knife slit your throat severely, causing blood to spill from the cut immediately. You started to cough a little, before collapsing on the sand. Sang-woo dropped on his knees right after you, and tried to lift your head as his clothes started to get soaked with your blood. You knew you didnât have much time before you ultimately bleed out. Your half closed eyes were scanning Sang-wooâs. His eyes were getting teary, only the pure terror of the situation blocking them from streaming down.Â
âEach time you hear a sad guitar.â
âI told you I would let you win, why-..what!â He yelled out the last part with anger and deep sorrow embedded in each word. Sang-woo knew that he was going to lose you, and these were going to be the last words he was ever going to be able to say to you. The thought of that made him calm down a little, if only for a mere moment. The guards didnât seem like they were about to shoot you to death, they probably would let you suffer until you died. Allowing him a momentâs opening to say whatever he had on his chest.
âKnow that I'm with you, the only way that I can be.â
You were both looking at each other in silence, just like the night before. Sang-woo swallowed his tears back before he started to talk. âI love you.â Was all that came out of his mouth, something heâd wished to have said earlier. The thought of him not being able to even bury you saddened him, there was no going to be a place of proper rest for you. Heâd been aware of his tendencies to appear cold, but the sight of you like this had caused something in him to freeze over. You tried to pull a slight smile on your face even through the sheering, yet warm, pain.Â
âUntil you're in my arms againâ
Never could have you guessed this was going to be the end of the line. Oh how you now wished that one of you hadnât called the number and would now be at home waiting for the other to come back from wherever they were. The only worry being the amount of time the other had been gone, if only. But now, only one of you would return alive.
âRemember me...â
Sang-woo hugged you for the last time. He was being gentle so as not to make you go through any more pain. As you were taking your last breaths, you felt it again. Sang-wooâs heartbeat. Last night you had thought that would have been the last time you felt it, but this was the best possible way to go. âRemember meâŚ.â You muttered as your body started to go limp, not being able to think of a better last wish. Sang-woo let go of you slowly as the staff started to approach you with a black coffin. His gaze was on the ground as he started to walk out of the arena with his hands in fists. Leaving behind the lifeless body, that once had made his otherwise horrid life a little bit more enjoyable.

âFu-fuck Ka-... Kakashi!â your voice cracks as the white haired man mercilessly pounds into you, the drag of his cock against your gummy walls building you closer and closer to the sweet release for the nth time.
His ragged breath leaves a hot trail from your face all the way to your shoulder where he starts sinking his teeth into your flesh, leaving deep marks and then kissing away at them.
âPlease beautiful, just- mmph- bear with me just a little longerâ He shifted his hips, pressing your legs all the way to your chest stretching you deliciously. The new sensation forces your eyes to open wide, fat tears forming in their corners, mouth agape.
The room was now filled by the lewd sounds of skin slapping skin and Kakashiâs ragged breath that turns into needy high-pitched moans at the feeling of your clamping walls around him. He stopped his ministrations on your shoulder to look at your fucked out expression and suddenly it was all too much for him too.
You would have noticed his soft hair tickling your skin but you were too focused on the electricity running under your skin as the new position allowed him to perfectly hit your sweet spot. All it took was a few more thrusts before your arms wrapped around his neck, body convulsing and shuddering as you were getting lost in the waves of your orgasm, loud wanton moans slipping past your swollen lips.
âY/N! I- fuuck, love, youâll make me cumâŚâ Kakashiâs face scrunched up as his own orgasm hit him, his body flexing and his thrusts coming to a halt as he painted your convulsing walls, a pretty loud moan he would be ashamed of in any other context slipping past his soft lips.
As he was coming down from his high he pulled out of you and ever so gently started placing your legs on the bed. He started peppering butterfly kisses all over your forming bruises, body still twitching and thrashing every so often.
âShh⌠I am here, itâs ok. Iâm sorry my love.â As he takes a better look at your form, body spent from the multiple highs he coaxed out of you, guilt starts building up in his gut like a heavy knot.
âY/N, are you ok?â In your fazed out state you donât even notice he asked you something, still basking in your afterglow. Somehow he quickly managed to carefully prop you up against the pillows, the cold rim of the water-filled glass against your lips suddenly waking you up.
âI am so sorry, did I hurt you? Do you need me to bring you anything else?â Fear and sadness were written all over his face. You drink large gulps of water, a few drops trickling down your chin and rolling onto your chest, almost sizzling against your hot and sweat-covered skin. âI am fine Kakashi. No need to be so worried dear. I really enjoyed it.â Your lips curl into a smile as you stare into his dark orbs.
âAre you sure? I can prepare something for you, whatever you want: food, a hot bath, just say it and itâs yours-â His hands were cupping your cheeks, wiping away the sweat from your glistening skin, his eyes never leaving yours, looking for any sign of discomfort and most importantly searching for reassurance.
âKakashi honey, I really appreciate you doting on me, but can we just cuddle for a bit?â you ask, pouting your bottom lip. He chuckles lowly at your antics as he carefully slumps onto his back and places you on top of him. One arm draped around you as the other mindlessly draws shapes on your arm. He kisses the top of your head inhaling the sweet scent lingering on your hair. The room fell into a comfortable silence until you decided to speak again.
âUhm, âKashi?â You raise your head to meet his gaze.
âHn?â
âWould-would you mind having a late night, uhm bath? And maybe, a few strawberries?â Your face flushed from the embarrassment.
âAnything you want love, I just want you to feel safe and know that I will take care of you, no matter what.â You hid your head into his pectoral, face and ears red as a tomato, this man is going to be the death of you.
âNow now sweetheart, you werenât that shy screaming my name a few minutes agoâ He chuckles as he starts tickling your exposed sides. You start laughing uncontrollably and thrashing around trying to stop his ministrations. You straddle his lap and pin his hands above his head, his biceps flexing but he lets you overpower him.
You both laugh it off as you perfectly balance your nose on his. âI love youâ, you barely whisper your hot breath fanning on his lips.
âI love you too, Y/N. Now, the princess ordered a bath and strawberries. Wouldnât want to make her waitâ. He winked and captured your lips into a deep kiss.
