You're so lucky that your pup was not hurt. Oh man. The last time that happened to me my and my friend's dog nearly died in 5pm traffic in a five lane street. It was the worst ever. Thankfully neither of our doggies were hurt... ah man.
squidbrainsdesign That's really scary. D: Lucky for me I live in one of those dark residential areas with nothing but houses. I live all the way at the back of a quiet neighoborhood, so there's never traffic and a lot of people let their dogs run loose without worrying about it. The connecting road is just a long strip of neighborhoods, houses and an elementary school with a fairly low speed limit, one-lane going each way and no traffic, plus people are pretty much always on the lookout for people and/or animals crossing the street. Tomi has never (to my knowledge) left the neighborhood during the times that she's gotten loose, she always runs right back into the woods or into other people's yards that have dogs (likely dogs that have come through our yard at some point), and if I can't catch her she eventually comes home on her own. Regardless, I always worry when she gets loose (once a year or so), and I'm lucky that she doesn't face the risks of a dog that lives in a busy urban area.
