    “Dad? What was that muffled screaming under the house? Please tell me it’s not another alien locked up under there. We talked about this.” Beth rubbed the side of her temple, already feeling a migraine coming on.

“  would---  would  it  kill  you  to  be  less  of  a  dick?  ‘cause  y’know,  you---  you  sure  act  like  it  would.  ”  to  say  he’s  unimpressed  would  be  an  understatement ;  though  any  rick  is  hard  pressed  to  elicit  a  sentiment  from  this  particular  morty  that  isn’t  utterly  scathing,  in  all  fairness.  staring  after  the  rapidly  retreating  alien  that  just  found  itself  targeted  by  the  old  man’s  rebuke,  he  glances  to  the  old  man  expectantly.  genuine  question,  it  seems,  that  demands  an  actual  answer.  “  ---what’d  that  guy  do  to  you?  ”

               und   so   ,      as   it   turns   out   ,      calling   this   guy   a   POOR   ,      SAD   OLD   MAN   might   have   struck   a   nerve.      that   ,      or   ercole   had   said      SOMETHING      ELSE      that   he’d   forgotten   by   now.      the   man   LAUGHED      ―      chest   puffing   as   his   hands      RESIDED      at   his   hips.         ❝      PPFH   ,      you   sure   showed   ME   ,      eh   ?      ❞         he   bit   back.         ❝      why   don’t   you   go      CRY      SOME      MORE      then   ?      don’t   you   have   someone   to   MOURN   ?      you’re   probably   ANCIENT   enough   to   ‘ave      outlived      your      GRANDKIDS      ,         no   ?      ❞         a   small   CHUCKLE.

That is, until he saw a familiar face. “Rick! Aw, geez -- I messed up really bad, so bad. I - I don’t know what to do.”

    “Wanna know why you looked away so you couldn’t tell who was Beth and who was the clone? Because you can never take responsibility. Because you’re just a weak little man.”

    “Daddy? Who was that strange man in the garage?” Beth blinked curiously up at her father. “He looked just like you! Is he your brother? Ooooh do I gots an uncle!?”

hazel  hues  regard  rick  with  a  poignant  apprehension ;  he’s  bristling  pre-emptively  over  the  impending  insult  that’s  yet  to  be  hurled  his  way,  in  all  fairness...  and  yet,  as  far  as  morty’s  concerned,  it’s  near  enough  inevitable,  considering  rick’s  nature.  a  sour  frown  curls  his  visage.  “  wh--  what  do  you  care?  ”
