Manchester United 2019/2020 Squad
Manchester United has released the squad list and numbers for the 2019/2020 season. Anthony Martial returns to the no.9 shirt following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan. New signing Harry Maguire takes the no. 5 shirt which had remained empty after Marcos Rojo was changed to no. 16 at the start of the 2018/2019 season. Daniel James will wear the no. 21 which was previously worn by Ander Herrera before his departure to PSG. Aaron Wan-Bissaka will wear no. 29 which was last in use during the 2017/2018 season by James Wilson. Youngesters Gomes and Greenwood have been assigned the numbers 28 and 26 respectively which they wore during United’s preseason tour. All other numbers remain the same.
do players get to pick their numbers each season? i know dvd started at arsenal as 21 and then moved to 7 like did she choose it as she was also 7 as PSV too.
Yeah, I think if numbers become available the current players get first choice if they want to change numbers and then new players choose from what's left.
Leah changed to 6 a couple of years ago, DVD changed to 7, Lia has just changed to 13 which is what she wore at Potsdam (although not sure why she didn't just have 13 last season).

Is there a reason Arsenal don’t have a no. 12 or no. 19 this year?
Think those numbers just weren’t chosen - Jess Samuelsson was no.12 last year and no-one has taken that number this season. Lia was 19 last year but has moved to 13.
Last season there was no 5, 13 or 14. (And there was only a no.2 and 4 after Christmas when Veje and Arnth signed in January).
It may of course mean that there are more signings to announce that have taken those numbers but I think the fact that they have released all the numbers together now means this is the fixed squad and those numbers just weren’t chosen.
Manchester United have confirmed the squad numbers for the 2017/2018 season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been assigned the no.10 shirt following the signing of a 1 year contract with the club and the departure of Wayne Rooney. Romelu Lukaku has taken over Zlatan’s previous no.9. As revealed during pre-season, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic will wear the no.2 and no.31 respectively.
Scott McTominay has been promoted to the first squad following the move of Andreas Pereira on loan to Valencia CF and will wear the no. 39. Although he is on loan, Andreas Pereira has moved from wearing the no. 44 to wearing the no. 15.
All other squad numbers remain as they have been.
