“Squabbles” is such a fun word to say.
actually terrified of the new episode,, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE LAST CHAPTER??
The great reddit migration 2023.
TMNT 12 is super depressing actually?? I just binged seasons 1-4 this last month and the fuck?? They had been tossing around Splinter’s death since season two(!) and when it finally stuck it just left this heavy, dark umbrella hanging over the rest of the show.
Like kudos for showing parental death on a kids show, bc yea, that shit happens and it sucks; but to not show proper grieving??
Splinter died, the turtles each had a black and white image with Splinter pop onscreen, cut to the funeral, it shows just the turtles remaining at Splint’s grave, then it shows Leo leaving to grieve alone. But then??? The biggest middle finger to that tragic ass death scene; Splinter’s ‘spirit’ (its literally just him) comes back to basically keep teaching him!
We don’t get a closure episode for the other turtles, and Leo is pm shown to not need closure bc he literally still sees and speaks to his/their dad. The ‘closure’ we’re shown, and expected to accept is Leo killing Saki; when throughout the entire show, Splinter’s been all about ‘vengeance is not the key,’ ‘bad shit happens if/when you hold onto anger,’ etc. The big/main arc of the show, TMNT vs Shredder, ends with vengeance despite being told throughout the show that vengeance is wrong.
Don’t mistake for a hate post, I adore this show for all the positive things it is and did. I just feel at some point, the showrunners switched lanes and started writing TMNT ‘12 from Leo’s perspective, and made the show about him becoming a better leader and, at the very end, Sensei.
That’s fine, but it definitely alienates some fans, and hurts the writing when you have one very well written and developed character and the rest have been more or less the same since season one. There (much) more I want to say about *gestures messily* all of this, but my brain’s done for now.

Astrology furnishes a magnificent proof of [the] miserable subjective tendency in men, which leads them to see everything only as bearing upon themselves, and to think of nothing that is not straightaway made into a personal matter. The aim of astrology is to bring the motions of the celestial bodies into relation with the wretched Ego, and to establish a connection between a comet in the sky and squabbles and rascalities on earth.
