Seeking Permission Rather Than Forgiveness || Pierceman
Puck was feeling incredibly nervous ā he was a little happy that Brittany was at work so she wouldnāt see him halfway bouncing around their home like this. He had the day off from the garage, pleasantly surprised at how well that job was turning out ā the co-workers seemed really cool and down to earth and the boss was all kinds of awesome.
It had hit him when he had gone to bed that night ā that life, his life, was changing and that was fast. He had gotten his girlfriend back, they had gotten a house and now they both had jobs again and⦠Well. He was growing up ā fast. Which also meant that there was something else he needed to do, something that he had wanted to do for an incredibly long time but obviously other things had gotten in the way.
Somewhere back in his apartment in New York lay a perfect little ring that he had gone out to buy, way before the whole thing with Santana had happened ā his stomach clenched painfully at the memory but no, it wasnāt time for that right now. Shaking his head he let out a small breath of air ā Puck had gotten the ring because he fully intended on asking Brittany to marry him, back then. All he had needed at that point was her parentsā approval, which he had never gotten around to getting and⦠well. But this time, he could do it.
Sure, it was a little fast but it wasnāt like he was going to propose to her tomorrow or anything ā his head spun a little at the thought ā but it would be a good thing to get her parentsā permission, he figured, especially in light of the whole āmurderer who didnāt go to jailā thing and maybe it would be a way to show them that he was, in fact, growing up and becoming a real adult. Something along those lines, anyway.
Puck had made the choice that it would be today, today to walk over there and ask ā but he was still incredibly nervous, his throat felt dry and like it could close up at any second, cutting off all oxygen to his body or something. He knew both Pierces would be home today so really, it was the perfect time. Considering they hadnāt reported him to the police or disowned him, he figured they would agree, but⦠Still. Marriage was something⦠more than just being girlfriend and boyfriend, right? Marriage meant like, forever.
As Puck made his way out of their house and walked over to their neighbors, conveniently also Brittanyās parents, he couldnāt help but let out a small chuckle at the thought of being with Brittany for, well, forever? If anyone had asked him whether he could picture himself getting married a year ago, the answer would have been a resounding no ā although the secret wish to have his own real family had been there then, too.
Now? Things were different ā and he had gotten a second chance. He wasnāt about to waste it.

After some pleasant small talk with the Pierces (they saw each other pretty much on a daily basis, now) Puck took in a deep breath, gesturing to the table in the kitchen, āI, uhm⦠thereās something Iād like to uh, discuss with you.ā He said and sat down, waiting for the parental unit to follow. He straightened up ā trying his hardest not to slouch or anything, though he couldnāt quite control the way his leg wouldnāt stop bouncing.
He folded his hands together on the table, looking between the two Pierces and trying to control his nervous breathing, a little unsure of how to start; āUhm. As you know, I uh⦠Iāve got a job, now. So does Britts. Iām looking at therapy classes and stuff here, trying to find a good one and⦠I mean, weāve got a house now, too. So like⦠Weāre settling down and⦠you know, dating again.ā He ran one hand through his āhawk, mussing it up a little, before looking down at the table ā every so often still a little uncomfortable with the fact that these two were basically the only authorities in his life that he respected and cared about. āI, uh⦠Weāre settling down. Here. Like⦠forever probably and⦠Iām not saying Iām going to do this right now or anything, but⦠Iād like your permission, to⦠marry your daughter.ā He finished ā his actual request finally out there, his eyes darting nervously between the two Pierces.
