YMCA Aquatic Facts of the Day!
In 1985 the YMCA celebrated 100 years of Aquatics and as a means to look back on all that was accomplished Llyod C. Arnold wrote a pamphlet highlighting 100 YMCA accomplishments throughout their years in aquatics.
Lets take a look at some of the facts...
8). The first YMCA lifesaving corps was organized in 1904 at Camp Dudley in upstate New York.
9). On August 26, 1891, water football was first played in the Springfield College pool with two teams of nine men each, captained by Henry F. Kallcnberg and Luther Gulick. This innovation led to various other forms of water games including water polo.
