The thing you have to understand about Eugene/Springfield, Oregon is that there's a 209-acre non-profit nature education facility on leased county land called Mount Pisgah Arboretum in the Howard Buford Recreation Area, and they host a yearly fundraiser Mushroom Festival. It's one of biggest yearly festivals of the year where people dress up in their mushroom finery and costumes (and a lot of woods-witch hats). There were multiple babies in giant mushroom cap hats.
There are cooking classes, food trucks (lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options), live music, educational trail walks, mushroom identification education, multiple mycology groups, a huge room of specimen identification examples at different life stages, mushroom vendors (with grow your own kits), artists, fresh pressed cider, and more. One of the cooking classes was taught by the owner and head chef of a vegan restaurant who is not himself vegan but if you live in a place that's got some of the best produce in the whole world, why not just cook only that and invite everyone to your table? There are whole local truffles in wine glasses so you can really smell different species.
You'd be hard pressed to find anywhere as batty about mushrooms as this place. Also it's cold and raining off and on the entire time and quite muddy, but no one cares. Big mushroom hat and a wool or rain coat will keep that off you just fine.
