Tete-a-tete daffodils are my favorite spring bloomers. Unfortunately, I couldn’t plant the bulbs in autumn because I didn’t even have a garden at that time, but I was lucky enough to buy forced Tete-a-tete bulbs in pots at Traeder Joe’s (USA grocery chain) and planted them outside in the garden. I know that is kind of cheating but I don’t care, they brought me lots of joy and it was totally worth for me. Then last week we had a hot spell and the temperature suddenly jumped up to around 90 F/32 C followed by severe thunderstorms with incredible much rain and that did my Tete-a-Tetes in. Either they succumbed to heat shock or they drowned or both. I tell you, the weather here in Austin is wild and not easy on the plants! Anyway, I am still happy that I planted and enjoyed them as long as they lasted. Hopefully the bulbs survive. In any case, this autumn I will definitely buy bulbs and grow my own Tete-a-tetes and other daffodil varieties properly! Do you have Tete-a-tetes still blooming in your garden?
