Interweave Crochet, Spring 2020

The spring patterns continue their inevitable rollout and the new crochet patterns in this issue offer a variety to satisfy any maker stuck at home with a stash of yarn to work with.

The cover has a fascinating geometric take in the Polygonia Shawl designed by Kazimiera Budak in a Sugar Bush Yarn called Drizzle which is a fuzzy mohair-silk blend. It is a smaller, triangular scarf that reminds me of chemistry problems. A softer geometric appears in the pink River Walk Shawl by Sharon Falkner which is a large stole better for evening wear and made of Indulgence yarn, a silk linen blend by Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts. If you prefer a little jacket for evening, you can make Jane Howorth’s Furrow Shrug in a hand-dyed Merino by Manos del Uruguay.

There are sweaters too and I show a sporty cropped model by Connie Lee Lynch called Tarmac Tee which is made from side to side, i.e. starting at the hemline of one sleeve, working across the body, and ending up at the hemline of the other sleeve. It is made of Hikoo CoBaSi a blend of cotton, nylon and bamboo. The last is my favorite, notice how they show it for daytime, or for nighttime over a matching camisole. Doris Chin calls it Sera Lace Top and made it in Harrisville Designs Silk & Wool.
